what clutches would you all recommend for 500+bhp? after taking advice from several well known chaps i went for the xtd 6 puch paddle clutch and fidanza flywheel and lets just say im more than a tad disappointed as it slips terribly. more to the point i havent even got to run my nitrous yet :(

Why? we run 600rwhp thru an Xtreme single plate...

There are single plates and single plates I guess. If you want a twin plate Gary\'s HKS should be more than man enough, altho they can be a bit \'playful\' on the take up. But if you want to run a lot of power there will always be a compromise on driveability as i\'m sure you\'re aware.

im generally of the opinion mate that ill give anything a try once. im not one of these sceptics that thinks if its cheap its crap, as it isnt always the case. ive tried a single plate clutch, and rather than take even a slightest risk that the next one might be money wasted yet again, id rather spend the extra and know its not going to be. ive tried to get away with a single plate clutch and it hasnt worked, ill just go the whole hog and buy the best. driveability isnt a big concern, it only really gets used for drag use, and driving to and from events.

ive sent gary a pm regarding his hks clutch. what is the life expectancy of these clutches when used pretty much solely for drag racing? from experience i know some clutches tend to last a lot longer when only used under harsh conditions instead of the slipping conditions of \'in traffic\' driving. just wondered how long i can expect something like that to last.

Using a HKS twin plate myself if it handles the extra torque of the 20b in a Cosmo you shouldn\'t have any issues in a lighter seven behind a 13b. As already stated bite point takes a bit of getting used to but after a few days you soon get the hang of it in traffic.

the driveability of the clutch isnt really an issue, i drive many cars and the rx7 is the most mild mannered of them all really, im fully aware of what to expect from the clutch. my main priority is getting the power down without compromise. there is still plenty of power left to be had but until i fit a suitable clutch id just be wasting my time

has it started slipping already pete. go all out and get an exedy hyper tripple. get some cash spent on it you tight get :P thats the one im going for.

oh and you know you wanted my back seats? well theyre for sale

There are plenty of clutch options out there which is a good thing :D Lots that will take 500atw, shame the gearbox and back axle get left out of the equation, to run that sort of power will undoubtedly destroy your stock box and diff, that is one hell of a shock to put through a drive train....... Think on. :yes

gary, im not sure if you have been receiving my emails mate. could you be a gent and drop me a pm with the details i require.

hi de ho jamie, clutch problem will hopefully be sorted very soon. how much you want for the back seat? pop down and see me next time your passing mate
