The standard times aren\'t anything to write home about but I wouldn\'t be surprised if a mildly modded S13 could keep up with a standard FD. As previously mentioned, the gearing is shorter and they\'re pretty light as standard (and even lighter one the tailgates have rusted away ;) )
Good track day cars with a little fettling, and cheap too! :D

It has one of those stage 1 chip\'s yes but those chips are rubbish. He has a rebuilt engine and turbo. The turbo now has a 360 degree thrust bearing so its not a completley normal T25 but its not going to do much. He has full exhaust from turbo back, large front mount, uprated fuel pump, and running over 1 bar. His boost controler only goes up to 1 bar but we think its running more  :rollin

Equivalent mods on an FD would see it putting down something in the region of 340+ rwhp - i.e. close to 400 fly wheel. I think it\'d be a different story like for like.  Best place to prove it though is on the track or up the strip.

Or amybe Halfrauds car park ;)

Is there anybody with a stock RX-7 that has got a better time than 13.9 at the pod? or if you have a time near about that what engine mods, tyres have you got and what where the wether conditions.

Ive been looking at the 1/4 mile table on mrc and alot of the RX-7\'s get 14\'s. I got a 13.4@108 but that was on a wet day and had about 280@wheels.

The 200sx got the 13.9@100mph about a month ago when it was really hot. It was the day the Retro car show was held there (really good show).

We should meet up at the pod and some stock fd\'s should race him down the strip... If the FD wins we all get to beat him with a Timmy Mallet hammer!! :)

Im not sure what S13\'s are stock. All I know is its a 1.8litre engine.

I\'ve seen a stock 265hp model do it in 13.73. Admittedly, it was a pro driving, but 13.73 none the less.

You guys are bullies, let me sort him with the lil Rx,i dont need turbos and all of that to ......hes more my size and weight and he can put 15" on hehehehahahahahah....

the spec changes every time you reply! a 360* thrust bearing will help the turbo hold boost but will slow the spool.

and that spec IS stage 1...

what stage 1 chip is it? norris designs or horsham development? or is a super chip?
edit: looked it up.. h-dev chip. very good chips with few complaints from their very wide customer base.

our stage 1 s13 can also keep pace with gtst\'s but this is an rx7 topic. i wanted to see what the drivers of them wonderful rotarys thought about it. any ex s13 owners here?

standard s13 numbers are rubbish.

they are 1.8 16v with a t25 (very small) turbo. around 170hp as standard.
0-60 6.6 (if you had an amazing launch. most do nearer 7)
top speed of over 140.
nothing special.

the stage one mods do make a good performance gain. 220-230fwhp can be had from an exhaust, filter, fuel pump, chip and cheap intercooler. so about 210-215rwhp. however the tuner that makes the chip has only had 212fwhp out of their development car.

they weigh about 1280-1360kg depending on spec. fully stripped they weigh around 1170kg.
fully stripped they do seem to shift quite well and easy go beyond the 150mph of the dial.

so maybe a fully stripped s13 with stage one mods could keep up with an fd up the 1/4 but i wounldnt expect it to do 13.7.
spose there is only one way to prove that.. the pod.

however.. none of this means anything at all. as the bloke in question didnt \'race\' any of these fd\'s on a 1/4 so the times mean nothing.

the driver did say that one of the \'races\' did go from 80-130mph. i dont think a t25 can push an s13 hard enough to out run an fd (even the 237hp ones) at those speeds.
also i\'ve not met an fd driver who would bother to even change gear to go from 80-130 let alone speed up cos someone in an s13 did.

Cheers LDA,

Loads of info there. Ive always wondered what the thrust beaing thing was for, now I know. The chip is one supplied by Jezz on the 200sx forum, I dont know what make that is, Ive never looked at it.

When you say the spec changes everytime I reply, its because I forget to mention things, its not my car so forget whats been done (although I was there when most of it was being done). Although When James posted his spec on the 200sx forum he was told it wasn\'t stage 1 buy alot of people and more a stage 1.5 lol  I dont look at the car in stages and just what it has. The stage system was imho made up by traders who sold tuning packages and called them stages.

Im sure an FD has a higher top end than an s13 but Ive seen this 200sx race 3 seperate FD\'s and 2 out of the 3 initiated the race. All these FD\'s he raced were 255bhp models although one of them did have an Apexi commander on his dash so I would have thought it would of at least of been decatted.

Somone said that they have see a stock FD do a 13.7, thats a great time, I supose thats the difference if theres a profesional driver behind the wheel. But that doesn\'t change the fact that a stock FD did a 13.7 although it was a 265bhp model but 10bhp isn\'t going to make any difference really. What time could a profesional driver get in the 200sx though? But lets not get into that argument/ discussion :p

At the end of the day Ive only said what I have seen. So making digs at me is kinda pointless. Maybe the owners of the FD\'s at the Reading meet could post on here with there version of events. Although I can understand if they dont want to. I mean why would anyone want to get mixed up in the middle of a thread like this lol

sorry I kept  quiet when Danato asked
but the reason they don\'t want to post anything is that they don\'t want to be associated with people who continually brag about racing on the STREET, and if you ignore that fact and if what you say is true you want Mazda owners to say that their cars are slower than a S13 200sx, even the 200sx owners know that the rex is a faster car.

johnf

Read this thread [as I do most threads on here] and quite honestly most of it has little interest to me. Wouldn\'t know a 200sx if I parked next to it, or be interested in who\'s quickest. I have a quick car that looks the dogs and wouldn\'t swap it for anything I could afford - each to their own.

Just one point, you say:

"Apexi commander on his dash so I would have thought it would of at least of been decatted."

Mines got an Apexi and it\'s not decatted...............

We all enjoy what we own, if not sell it...............simple.

Hi Mate, please dont think i was asking you to keep quiet, i just didnt want the thread turning into an argument or slagging match, i have no problem with you posting but please keep it on a friendly level, thats all. I just my job to keep the forum friendly!  :)

I personally dont agree with any sort of racing on the streets, its what gives modified car owners a bad name, but if people wish to talk about it then its up to them as there are no rules against talking about it in a nice friendly manner!  ;)

I own an RX-7 and I have no problem in admitting if a car is faster than mine! dont see the problem. Also Im not saying a 200sx is quicker than an FD. I never said once that they were!!!!

Ive seen a Corsa and a Nova get a 1/4 in 13.8. If I couldn\'t get a better 1/4 mile than that then Id say they were quicker than me. But round a track we all know it would be a different story.

No one is bragging about anything... This thread was to discuss wether or not this modded 200sx could beat a stock FD. Personaly I dont care which car/ driver wins. Ive only said what Ive seen which I have to keep repeating at the end of my posts due to people taking this out of context and off topic.

Brett

So, just to clarify (as I\'m genuinely interested) what is the full spec of that S13 then? I have no difficulty in beliveing its quick, theres a few \'rapid\' ones around these parts.
Looks like the doubting was caused by a lack of complete specs at the start of the thread :)
Brap Brap Brap Brap

ScuttleRX

have seen a 600bhp one round this way, reckon that might trouble a stock fd :D

rx7veilside

lets just say they are both nice cars capable of high speeds both look nice and if modded properly will perform well at the track or the strip and all agree that racing on the road only proves on thing.some people are willing to endanger themselve and others to prove a silly point...no matter how fast ur car is there is allways something faster and if u race on the road it will be either plod or an ambulance
