fuel filter question

ok guys, i think ive found the fuel filter but am i right in saying its inside some sort of container that bols the the car chassis?? its round with what looks to be a breather pipe cpming directly from the bottom of it. if this is right how the hell do i get it openn so i get to the old filter inside. if im completely wrong does anyone have a pic of where i can find it please.
