strange problem in 3rd gear

here is a bizzare problem that I\'m hoping you clever fellas can help me with.

When in 3rd and proper booting it, when I get to 6,000 revs, it acts like I have hit the rev limit. If I ease off and then put my foot down again it flies past it and up to the real limit.

Now I\'m wondering if maybe it\'s because I\'m running on a stock ECU with a full 3" decat exhaust, including downpipe. Maybe it needs a richer mix?

I have only been running the exhaust for a month. Been meaning to get an apexi but waiting for Pip to get his new road.

I guess my real question is, could I be damaging my car with this. I\'ve only hit this about 4 times but I\'m thinking maybe I should take it easy until I know the problem.

if you think your engine is running lean take it easy until you get the problem sorted  

have you got any other mods done to your engine?

im pretty sure someone more knowledgeable than me will come along and be able to help you with your problem!

Sounds like an Apexi Power FC might sort this out.

Take it easy though, sounds like you are running too many mods for the standard ECU, especially with the porting.

yeah I figured the same. Like I say, had the Apexi planned pretty much straight away,just couldn\'t get it done.

Week on monday should be able to get the ECU. Best just ease off until then.

I had kind of the same issue when i first got the car it turned out that my power fc had lost its map so i reckon it is a proble with running lean.  Just in case check the vacum pipe under the plastic box in the middle of the engine beside the plennum this pipe came off in my motor and it sounds like the same symptoms>  Best of luck.

after a chat with Carl he reckons it\'s a boost cut. Need to get my ecu sorted real quick before I shag my lovely car.
