Hi peeps,

ive put a wanted add in so i thought id have a shout on here.

anyone knows who sells the cheapest Power FC ??

ive got a bloke in japan who can send me them for  Â£476, before import tax,  but id rather not send some random guy that money, so what are the english alternatives, seems to be at least 100 quid more over here.

Getting old... Its not like it was in my day!

not sure what kind of cut your \'bloke\' is taking, and whether that price includes postage - but that price is roughly apexi rrp in japan.

If you go to the bigger specialists (they advertise in the japanese car mags and some sell overseas) or find someone who can buy off yahoo - should be able to get a much better deal.  As an example, I got mine off yahoo and paid the equivalent of £374 (new, delivered to my door, in japan)

also make sure it comes with the commander (as all new ones do now)

DaiOni

here\'s an example (where I got mine): http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c92666435

maybe you should point your \'bloke\' in that direction

Eddie

That is a good price, ours are direct from Japan also, these things are getting cheaper all the time, I will be buying one for a door stop soon they will be that cheap.

Can\'t read Japanese so I dont know how much they are asking to ship or how you pay them? but I am sure plenty of people will be looking into it.

Cheers for the link

We sell these the Apexi PFC with commander for £700 which is a lot cheaper than many companys over here  sell them for, this includes Vat and carrage to you and obviously you get a little thing called a guarantee with it.

( if we could take the Vat off we could sell for £577 be we can\'t !!)

I will say that i\'m blowed if l would send my money out to Japan not quite knowing if your going to get anything back!.

BTW I remember Greenline being asked about because a member sent money and then could get no reply from them !

Thats about the size of it; legit traders pay duty and vat on importation which adds a hundred plus to the final selling price for a start - which obviously negates being competitive when compared to guys selling them for beer money.

Some people do get stung buying from the US and Japan - many dont tho. Some guys prefer to get every thing from their tuners cause they appreciate the service they provide and know that they are appreciated by the guys who run the business - and probably get a better deal long term tbh. Some just cant be bothered to search for the best price out there and buy it whereever they see it first! Others want to save every £ - which is fair enough.

If you want to get it cheap import it your self. You take a small chance, can scam the tax but will probably have to wait for a while for the goods to get here - and you wont really know what its gonna cost u til u have it in your hands.

Alternatively, you can buy it from your tuner - you knwo what its gonnoa cost and have it probably sooner - but end up paying more. But you\'ll possibly find that you get a sweeter deal when it comes to fitting, tuning or whatever - we try and do what we can when people buy their bits from us as well as getting us to fit it all - cause we appreciate thier business that little bit more!

Rich is right we have an excellent deal with Apexi at the moment but we are still £100 over the top of the bedroom boys because we have to pay Duty, Vat and of course the Tax man.

Until recently you could not get Apexi here "officially" in the UK because the official importer totaly gave up the unequal struggle with the bedroom boys to the extent that when l rung they tried to tell me "nah you don\'t want a PFC because they are rubbish!"

But then after talking with the owner l found it was the cover story they used because they had given up trying to sell the stuff because of what l have told you above !.

BTW they are not the main importer now.

p.s. we can now even get old dead units reconditioned that are long long out of warranty, try asking one of your rouge importers that one!

Grueben

As per my previous post, I \'bought\' one on eBay from KADEPUNK in Australia. But all he does is order them from Japan and get them shipped. I paid for it on the 10th of Feb and it still hasn\'t arrived! He\'s had a problem with his supplier but It\'s not a problem for him because he\'s kept my money and refused to give it back.  I paid £600 but in future i would buy one in the UK and pay the extra money.
As for avoiding import duty - I also bought an AVCR which came from Japan and was labelled up as a \'toy\' but customs opened it and charged me the import duty anyway!

So the bottom line with all this importing of parts etc is that you take a chance. At least if you buy something here in a shop you actually get to see it first and can take it back if there\'s a problem.
