Extravagant cage? Yeah heard that one before, getting boring now.
I\'m not particularly interested in justifying it. I could post up many pictures of more extravagant cages, in world rally cars, touring cars and generally most serious race cars. The reason you dont see these cages all the time, is because the limiting factor is the generally the customers budget. They are very time consuming to design and build, different tube thickness, dia, location, gussets, shear plates etc.
I have tested\\setup\\engineered many race cars over the years. Some cars give you an immediate feeling of being safe when you see it for the first time, some you diont even want to get in.
Your car Ross, just gives me the gut feeling of being SAFE....:D
You can NEVER over engineer a safety device.I have stuck many a car in the armco at quite a rate of knots, the upsetting thing is you can watch a sissy rollcage fold under the impact........this in turn hurts you even more as the safety shell shifts around and takes you with it...

The 17" alloys that i want to fit are only 7.1Kgs! However they hit the brakes so I am gonna have the mountings and discs machined down by 4mm, this will stilll retain the working tolerances to allow for the heat expansion.

Not me driving sadly, that was it\'s time as a drift car earlier in the year before I bought it to re-prepare for circuit racing.

sometimes car have surprises!

I mean how many people do you tell that your car is a 1.3?

TonyC

Indeedy, it\'s only a Rover (Well MG actually) that came from the factory with a 4.6 Ford V8, LSD, converted to RWD, AP racing brakes, alloy suspension arms, custom Bilstein dampers, and makes me smile every time I slide to work in it.

So its a few different parts from a few different cars all put into one!

And what is your car???  Is your car standard?

Why turn your nose up and someones talent.....most cars these days are basterdised parts-bin machines....The main thing is that Tony can get this \'its only a rover\' drifting round corners......and that demands respect :god

and whats a modified Rex then?

jeez give the ****er a break, he can drive and drift what he likes.

TonyC

The hardest part is keeping the bleeding tartan rug over my knees whilst driving.
And the pipe smoke makes it difficult to see where I\'m going.

It\'s alright, the cat will sort out any spills.
