Yet another boost problem...

Picked my car up from the local bodyshop today where it had been awaiting repair to the rear bumper since last friday. When i dropped the car off everything was running fine and there were no boost issues at all.

However today is another matter, ran the car conservatively(keeping off boost) after picking it up as it was low on fuel and about 12 miles to my nearest shell garage. Filled up with optimax and on the way home thought i would open her up a little.

Now providing i am only light on the throttle the revs will pick up right through the range with no problem.... but judging from my boost gauge there is no boost building, it stays defiantly in the vacuum side of the reading. The minute you try and give it any decent throttle then its like hitting a brick wall, seems it just cuts out.... Once again lightly on the throttle picks up through the rev range..... still no sign of boost on gauge.

Do you think it would be worth calling the bodyshop to see if anyone has had a "play" or "tinker" with it, and do you guys have any ideas as to what the problem could be.

Any ideas and help is appreciated

First thing is to check the hoses. Have a look at the boost sensor, middle of the engine bay at the back.

Soon as the torrential rain stops i will check them.  Forgot to mention that it\'s a single turbo T88, does that make a difference??

has it got a apexi and commander one of them might have fiddled with it was in dracos car with rev limiter set at 4000 and as soon as u hit 4000rpm it must interupt injectors or something as similiar to rebounding off a wall lots of times in succession

Icesurf3r

Nope not got an Apexi (Yet!!!!lol) Has the F-Con Pro V ecu.  Checked every hose i could find and everything seems to be connected.  so not sure where to go from here.

Have spoke to Pip and he\'s gonna take a look at it on tues, so hopefully he\'ll be able to diagnose and sort the problem without too much trouble. So until then fingers crossed ..

Let us know how you go on bro.
Mine is doing the identical thing although not all the time. My boost gauges aren\'t working either so can\'t tell if I\'m over boosting.

Hi Rich

Will let you know how i get on! Although my boost gauge was working perfectly till it went into the body shop, but hopefully it is still working and it\'s just no boost thats the problem.

Well off to Pips tomorrow, hopefully he\'ll be able to resolve the problem without too much hassle. So if anyone see\'s a red RX limping down the M62 and M6 tomorrow, that will probably be me lol.....

Well where do i start??

Put all the details into autoroute, seemed easy enough, straight down the M62 off at junction 12, straight down M60 and onto A559 and Bobs your uncle......

So off i set at 6.30am only to find that there\'s been an accident, and the junction i need has been completely closed:reallymad No detour signs, no nothing. So instant panick attack.... Had a brief sightseeing trip of manchester including the airport (Twice) lol

But thanks to Pip and the lurferly lady on reception at WGT (who\'s name i forgot to get :o ) and quite a few phone calls i finally arrived at WGT 5 and a half hours later.

Pip was excellent took RX out for a spin, diagnosed the problem almost straight away, was a choice between fueling and ecu! So off i went for some lunch and a look round the shops returned 3 hours later and it was all done:D :D Was a wiring problem fooling the ecu into thinking there was a fuel problem, so the minute my boost was supposed to come on-line the ECU said " nope not having any of that" and cut out!

I cannot praise Pip and all at WGT enough not only were they helpful in getting me there, putting up with my constant phone calls. But they fixed the problem in next to no time and were all friendly and helpful especially when discussing future mods with Pip. At the mo he\'s got it set at around 0.8 bar and said that should give it around 400BHP :D didn\'t ask wether that was at wheels or flywheel cos either is good enough for me at the minute lol....

SO once again a BIG thank you to Pip and ALL at WGT and i would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone thinking of where to take your RX...

hey guys howz it going ?
i had this proplem to, u went to put the foot down and the car starts jerkin! but if a smothly acc through the revs it was fine even through the turbos.
cost me a hell of alot of money to get to the bottom of it,
andy willson at asw auto\'s spent alot off time n effort on my rex, at the end it turnd out the ecu waz gone on it wich i heard thats comom so u should get it uprated on!the u.k spec ecu r cheap as but wen it cam to a import one was abit off a mission got one at the end for 350+vat
on top of that i found out the air pump wasnt workin + heat sensor was\'nt up to the job n finaly the cat is block waitin for a de-cat pipe. in the mean time i had to put a hks fuel cut defender wich was turnd quite high made it runn abit betta. boost is turnd down at the moment dont wanna b pushin it. once the de-cat pipe goes on ill find out the resultz. hop its good
