Any opinions on Bridgestone SO7\'s?

Good, bad or indifferent? Read several threads recently warning people to change tyres andremove "Jap rubber".

(Car came with them, so presume they are the original Jap tyres - only 2.5years old)

Cheers!

Jap tyres are ok in dry conditions, but they are harder compounds than what we get over here.

OK, bit the bullet and have just swapped them for new rubber all round.

Comments from the tyre place: jap domestic rubber, harder than "UK" (whether that means European or not, I don\'t know), designed for their asphalt. Will definately be worse than tyres fitted in the UK.
Taking them off, comments were: blimey, they\'re like forklift tyres - bloody heavy, rock hard and very little give!

So hopefully a vast improvement coming up!

so what brand did you go for of a UK nature?

Not a very interesting topic, is it! But FYI, Toyo T1R (their new tyre, added silicone etc for even better wet grip. Ideal for this time of year!) Need to scrub them in for 2-300 miles, but on the way home, the car was so much more stable - could even get over 60mph without the rear twitching! Yes, it was that bad on the previous tyres! Came in at 120 each corner, all in.
