Just to show my stoopidity can anyone confirm where the jacking points are for the FD if it\'s specific to certain areas or otherwise?
Cheers

Hi Si,

Are you talking about standard jack or trolley jack mate?

primarily the standard ones although i am guna buy a trolley jack so much easier getting both wheels off ground when you can whack it under the diff etc.
In mean time basically hopign to get wheels off to paint callipers etc tomorrow so need it in the air with bog standard jack so where along sills (if thats correct word) etc should i be jacking it given i cant get a good look under with me skirts on (not as in all the lads try & look up up me dress when i bend over  lol)
Cheers

Ok si,

Firstly remember to wear a dark coloured frock or you will get suspicious stains on you (probably not for the first time ;) )

On the standard jack there is a slit in the top piece that touches the underside on of the car. This slit should be placed where the cill meets the body of the car (the cill slots in nicely to the jack) about 10 inches back from the front of the cill, if you havent got a measuring tape then improvise with a bit of your anatomy.. :D  (I tryed to take a photo of the bit but its not to clear...)then wind up the jack!

Would be an idea to get a trolley jack and an axle stand as you shouldnt have any part of your body under the car without properly supporting it first..(see below)

Want to buy my 2000kg trolley jack set si?

Its boxed and unused, has 2 axle stands a crawler and various other useful bits.

DO NOT USE THE MAZDA JACK

thats what i did and completly crushed the jacking point and it went thru :(

after jacking the car down - i had to rip the jack out of the car

Mark my words - use a trolley jack

I think the Jack may be blamless in thie case.

Will the Jack Be OK for FD\'s with after market skirts?

Si, What paint have you got for your calipers? Was it expensive.

I have aftermarket side skirts and mine is fine...suppose it depends on the sideskirts, my Re-amemyia ones are fine at the front, cant get the standard jack under the back end but it will lift it in the middle which is enough to get the back wheel off the ground if there is a problem...

Caliper paint, you can get it at halfrauds and it isnt expensive, spray or brush on...
