 Carl, nice comment mate!
But you should know better than to throw stones in my direction...    :Thumbs-up

QuoteI personally would like to see a new proper drag class implemented this coming 2006 year if possible, even if only one car came it would be a start, and the sooner it is started the sooner it takes off.

Me too mate, and I hope as a \'major uk tuner\' with 20yrs experience you have at least one of your projects competing in this instead of loud noises!  ;)

Anyway, back on topic please gents......

That\'s alright then Trex,I thought that you did not want to see seriously modded drag cars from your previous comment.
Glad that we are on the same wavelength after all.

Well i think this reply should be taken into account! There is a lesson here!
 cjr

For me safety should be the first issue. Some off you know that I crashed a car going you the strip. One thing that saved me was the neck brace i was wearing, I felt my head go when the back stepped out. IF I had not been wearing the brace not sure if I would off been concious. I do agree on the classes for cars BUT surly safety comes with it. "Cars over 100mph must have additional safety equipment" a quote from santa pod and sheaksphere time slips. A system needs to be setup for this to be controlled. Like the cars having there class writen on there windows, so should H be put on meaning at least helmet required.
Just my two pence worth

Safety is the first most important thing! wether it makes it just another jap show, (unlikely) on not! The last thing Rotory scene needs is an accident or worse, we lose someone,
That sort of publicity will do nothing for any club.

I like Nortons post about RX-8 Owners. Is there any special incentive for them?  How about a prize or at least a Certificate for the quickest RX-8.

On the contrary, judging by how few RX-8s wave back when I am in the FD ( or the 2) I am not sure they are even Rotary enthusiasts.

But then again, they have a large club and we NEED to be involving them somehow?

Hi Martin,

Whilst I do agree with sentiments and have no problem with an RX-8 cup being awarded for the quickest 8 down the strip.

I would like to tell you that the RX-8 owners club was invited to attend but Rotorstock was totaly dismised on their forum as just a silly "Max Power type event" and so there was no interest to attend.
Hopefully 2006 will be different if we can educate them that this is a meeting for all, whatever your taste :cheers .

Hi All,

First of all I do agree that all cars with something near a 100mph terminal should at least have a driver with a crash helmet on at least !.

In 2004 we had the stipulation that ALL drivers in any car had to use crash helmets but like a lot of things this did cause problems with the main one being a severe lack of helmets available, even though Lee (JAP4RX) kindly donated some old crash helmets to the meeting the result still was that all day we had people asking us for crash helmets and even people like Ross had turned up with out a helmet expecting to compete with fast cars!,our biggest problem was that Santa Pod lets cars run without crash helmets and they had never had to bother before.

Also lets not get carried away here as something like 75% to 80% of the cars are only doing 15 seconds down the strip and we probably only had 4 or 5 cars capable of 11 second quarters anyway !, yes I know it only takes one accident to hurt you but I would hope that if someone builds ten second Japanese car that they will at the very least want to wear a crash helmet and fit some safety equipment as well.

As regards classes look in the rules and you will see we cater for differing classes already with F1, F2, and then classes for front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and four wheel drive and if all are in agreement after reading this I propose a separate class, with this maybe being called "S class" which will allow cars to compete against each other that do not comply with the rules as already stated.

I believe "S Class" should cater for Japanese  engined cars competing against each other these would be cars that are full blown Race cars, on methanol or specials which would mean even kit cars with jap engines would have a home as well.

Just incase people have forgotten The Japanese Street Fighter Championships were devised for Japanese Street cars and not out and out tube frame Race Cars.

BTW, I will leave it up to all you guys to decide if fully tubbed cars are able to fit into the F1 street class even if they have tax n test.

The idea of fully mapped out classes is obviously a good one because we would "comply" with the rest of the world with both car spec and safety, however we must decide if we are going to just run a one off meeting once a year or is MRC to now to become fully involved in the implementation of Drag Racing in Britain for Japanese cars.

Whilst It is admirable if we take on organising Drag Racing in Britain for Japanese cars we also have to take into account Santa Pod who have a totally different agenda to us in that they have been holding private meetings with most of the quicker runners on the Jap scene for some two years devising rules for these cars and yet not once has anyone from MRC had an invite to these meetings.

This means that any rules or regs that we may or may not try to implement will only apply to the one track anyway and possibly for only one meeting a year!

Lastly to answer the  question of Rotary\'s at Rotorstock, we need everyone to face the fact that we do not have anywhere near enough Rotary\'s to expect any track to even consider financially a Rotary only meeting because we simply do not have enough cars to hold a Rotorstock style meeting without the support of the rest of the Japanese community.

The way I see it is we have Rotary\'s and Mazda showcased at Rotorstock and am pleased to say that Rotary\'s have been at the forefront of Rotorstock for the past two years and that Rotorstock has considerably aided the rapid development of Rotary\'s on the Drag strip purely because people have had the goal of competing in the meeting that MRC devised.

Quote from: cliveHERE ARE THE RULES for The Japanese Street Fighter Championships

Japanese Street Fighter Championships (JSFC) 2005

The following are the competition rules for the JSFC.  The potential to qualify for this is open to all drivers who have signed on to take part in the RWYB sessions.  No other registration will be required.

JSFC - Rules

a) The Japanese Street Fighter Championship is for ROAD DRIVEN CARS, Japanese Cars with Japanese engines ONLY.

b) Competition will be split into two classes,

F1 will be for \'proven road cars\' .  These cars will be taxed + MOTed but will be free to run Drag tyres, but must remain in the \'\'spirit of the rules\'\' i.e. no out and out pure Drag race cars.

F2 will be for \'\'proper driven to the track normal fully fledged road cars only\'\'. Running on full conventional tubeless street tyres, ( no Drag cheat tyres, such as BF Goodrich, MT, Hoosiers etc. This will be an equaliser as it will not matter how much power you have because the grip will not be there to use it.)

c) F1 or F2 will be painted on the cars windows in white at scrutineering so spectators know what class a car is running in.  In addition for F2 FWD/RWD/4WD classifications will also be displayed.

d) The car class is to be declared when scrutineering/signing on so the onus is on the driver to declare his chosen class.

e) These cars will be checked in the fire-up lane on a regular basis, and any driver found with the wrong tyres in F2 will be excluded from the meeting.

f) Both classes will run on pump fuel but additives are allowed, i.e. NO METHONOL etc.

 g) Please note the decision as to whether a car is eligible to compete in either class will be taken by MRC. THIS MAY HAPPEN BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER THE MEETING AND THE CLUBS DECISION WILL BE FINAL.

Hi Era,

Above are the rules and I beleive it would be better if you decided what class you would like your car to compete in  :WaveBye

Are you going to run EFI Era? I assume not, very interested either way. What shot of gas do you plan to run, and how are you plumbing it in? you have a progressive controlller? we have run a number of different jet sizes on my red car to date with interesting results, theres a lot of scope for playing about :) Be interesting to see how the n/a and turbo graphs compare bro and how much it bumps the lil ones ponies! :D

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Hi All,
2 pence worth from someone with no motorsports experience whatsoever, but regarding sorting out classes for RS3 or 4 or 5 or whenever, I think someone who knows their stuff (one of the oz,nz knowledgeable guys, glenn, clive etc) should bit the bullet and lay down a set of classes as close to whatever international standards are already in place.
You\'ll never get everyone to agree with it, you can\'t set rules via a public discussion cos if everyone agreed then you wouldn\'t need the rules in the first place! lol

There is no reason why rotorstock shouldnt grow and attract interest in rotary drag racing in the uk over the next few years, i\'m sure there is a hell of a lot to come out of the renesis engine in the future and other countries don\'t have 10yrs+ headstart on us with that engine, so we should try to keep our rules as close to other countries as possible to encourage expansion in the future.

Maybe there will be a time when a 7 second rotor will ask to come to england to be allowed to compete against our cars! why not?

Safety is important as always and the experienced drag scenes around the world have tried and tested rules and regs that work, why go into the headache of making up your own?

Whatever happens, I\'m just an amateur petrol head who wants to see big loud fast cars bwap their way up the strip at rs3, so I don\'t have a preference but looking to the future and lining up with the rest of the world seems like a smart move.
