Your fc sounds like mine... very loud and alot of fun!  I have to feather the throttle on the motorway just not to be deafened!  And if i back off in any gear over 4k revs... when it hits 4 k i get a rather loud backfire!  Im guessing this is when the vaccum pump closes on the air intake?!  Quite funny though!  Only mods i have are 60mm drop, full straight through powerflow exhausts and a custom high flow panel filter.  Just wish i had an LSD :Thumbs-up

Yer, there is just a certain spot where it drones a lot, but other than that it sounds great.  Went out in mine again last night and it handles brilliantly.

Going to have a good look around it tomorrow and hopefully confimr that it is better condition that the other one.  If so I will be starting to remove interior etc, swpa the ARB\'s for the racing beat ones I have, swapping the discs, pads and brake lines over and finally putting the Enkeis on just to see what the look like on her.  Although Enkeis won\'t be staying on as I will be painting those over the winter :)

Oh and also have the headlight air scoop cover to paint and fit as well, not to mention the DTSS eliminator bushes.

Not had any backfires in the new one yet.

Not really pining after an LSD yet but I do keep looking at lightweight flywheels.

Ha i remember mine used to drone. There was a sweet spot which would cause my dad no end of head pain, just below 3000 rpm is was.

DTSS bushes arn\'t the nicest job, just make sure you have a vice and some old sockets.

As for the LSD, once you\'ve tied one you wont be going back! I vote you weld it! :spank

The bushes probably won\'t be done before the Finmere day in a few weeks, and will probably be left for over the winter.

As for welding the diff, im not really sure.  Will have a think but will probably leave as it is for now.

Brett

Having no joy finding those links for you... Will have another search over the weekend :)

No worries Brett.  By the way what is the red light on the steering column for (next to the immobiliser)?

Thanks

Welded diff... now theres an idea... :D  Never driven a car with a welded diff, but owned as s13 200sx and s14 200sx both with lsds.  Whats the major difference in terms of drivabillity?

That\'s the alarm light! When it\'s in valet mode it will stay on :)

were these standard ones or propper locking diffs?

They\'re a bit of a ball ache on a daily, not too bad though in my opinion. They require a bit more positivity when turning at slow speeds as they act as a brake. When it comes to putting power down they\'re awesome, specially when you\'ve still got the rear steer. Personally I\'d run one over a propper lsd. LSD\'s require far more maintanance and I don\'t like the idea of them suddenly locking up and catching you out. Welders are extremely predictable too

Both the s13 and s14 had standard lsds.... good fun though!  I don\'t use my mazda as a daily... i might have a word with a mate who owes me a favour to look at getting his welder out
