Hiya,

Just a simple question: What speed is a JDM `94 rex limited to? (Stock ecu) And I\'m planning to get a powerfc, does it delimit as well?

Cheers

I\'m fairly sure it\'s limited to 190 ish KPH.  Before I got mine delimited it used to go just above the 180 mark before the \'brick wall\' kicked in.

I\'m bout 100% sure a PFC will delimit the car.

112mph is the JDM limit so whatever that is in kmph. Not sure about the Apexi removing the speed limiter.

112mph is 180kph...

that ain\'t much... my dads volvo can exceed that!

Thought so but could not be arsed doing the conversion.
112mph is an agreement between Japan\'s car dealers and the Government. A bit like the German 155mph limit. A gentlemans agrement.
Point about the volvo is this though, how fast does your da\'s volvo get to 60 in????
In the UK anything above 100mph and your looking at a ban so its not that much of a problem having it limited to 112, although very few cars I suspect still have the limiter on them.

I know the UK cars limit is much higher, so I have been told! ;)  anyone know what it is pls?

Yep its 112 mph :(

I\'m getting mine delimited as I\'m sure a day at donnington will see me hit that speed :D

Delimited they are good for at least 145mph and that was up an incline ;)

It\'s pretty simple to delimit your own vehicle.  You can obtain the chip from ebay at the moment I think which also changes the KMPH to MPH.  My chip cost about £70 though I cannot remember who from off the top of my head.  It requires removal of some of the dash to get to the clocks, then its just a case of using your soldering skills on the reverse of the clocks housings electronics (come with instructions which are pretty easy to follow).  The clock will display the word KMPH still, but it will actually be in MPH (I tested it).  The original milage does not convert of course, so you have to write down your exact kilometers done before chipping and start calculating the miles from there.  It removed the 112mph limiter and I have had mine up to 160mph with some power still in reserve.

It is possible to send the speedo off to have it \'professionally\' changed to read MPH.  I think its about £160 - £200 but it requires you sending your speedo off in the post.

I\'ve been looking at getting my odometer recalibrated, tried a few places around but have been unable to find anyone who can change the KM(H?) symbol to Miles as it is in UK spec cars.  Just the odometer conversion will cost around £100, don\'t pay more than that.

I still don\'t know for sure if it\'s actually possible, or whether you need a UK spec odometer to display "Miles" - anyone?

When i bought the Top Secret RX from Freddy he used a place that recalibrated the clocks to display miles instead of kilometeres and this included re-calculating the total distance which also reads in miles now. The speedo clocks up in mph.  So it may well be worth having a word with Freddy when he\'s back from the Tokyo Auto Show.

The Jap, US and European Odometers are all exactly the same from memory. They are just programed by mazda to display either mph miles or kmph kilometers to suit the country they are to be sold in.  If you look very closely at your odometer you will see it has the word miles on it, but it needs re programming to display it.  So, like I think I said above, you can send it off to get this done.  I saw one guy on ebat offering the service and I know a guy used to advertise in the back on evo magazine.
