Had to jump start my car a few times recently. I don\'t think it is due to the cold weather.

I need some advice. Do you think that the battery I am using is not powerful enough to start the car? I had the battery checked and it was reading fully charged.

Do I need a new starter motor? I hear the starter moroer ticking away sometimes. Eventually I have to get it jump started.

Is it worth checking the earthing?

I am trying to narrow down the reason why my car sometimes does not start and why jump starting it does the trick all the time when the battery is fully charged.

I have check the connection and they seem fine and tightly screwed on.

It has been suggested that i get a battery booster. will that do the trick (in effect acting as a jumpstart).

It doesn\'t help that I have a standard halfords battery in there at the moment. Does a better battery (i.e. more powerful battery) really make a difference?

yeah but if the battery is fine and a jump start works doesn\'t that discount the alternator?

I will check in any case.

Alternator is required to run the electric in the car right?

Check with a multimeter the voltages being made on the battery. It should jump to a lower amount when the starter kicks in (if it does). If your able to get it started you should find the voltage in the battery should be around 14v when the car is running because its constantly charging the battery. If the voltage isn\'t changeing then it could just be a bad connection on the alternator or the starter.
