Best of luck with sorting the FoMoCo (Ferric Oxide Motor Company) metal work. Here's some inspiration from the old Rotina project. As will become evident, in this case the "Rot" bit was not a short for "Rotary"...

The short answer is that the Cortina's developers were copying the 12M. But now we're distracting way too much from the topic of the thread: Jamie's great Rotang project, so I'll end it there.

If it comes to it, there's a fair amount of Zephyr and Zodiac in a Mustang...or maybe it's the other way around?  Still none of them had a rotary so I'll leave the fascinating parts book analysis for another time
