Yeah I really feel for the welders who have gotta try and get the tig torch, and the filler rod and see what theyre doing in between those tubes.

If they charge 1000 quid to weld it...... pay it! Id struggle with that one

Oh my that's early
Is that test or race Clive ? I suppose once the manifold is repaired it's just get it into the correct location  pipe and  wire it up ?

No pressure, sounds so simple when you say it like that Wayne  :))

It will also need at least one test before the race at Silverstone as well.

Engines ported but still needs lots of work to finally assemble as 3 Rotors are much more complicated than 13b's or 10 and 12A's, also its because its an FD motor being converted.

Hopefully next week we can get the tunnel cut out, the dummy engine in place, main mountings fitted next week as this will then let me get the propshaft sent away to be shortened as the engines going back 6 inches.

And that's just to start with!

As someone once said. Ve have some good news and ve have some bad news.

Bad news,is Steve and myself offered the block up under the car and there is no way we can cut enough out of the tunnel to move the engine back 6", keeping the car legal as the rules say you cannot shift and also have a clutch pedal!

This now means the engine will have to go forward like the other conversions I have seen but this means coming up and over the steering rack as you will see on an image below.

Thing is the RX-8 steering rack is very fat, however I think I have the solution with an MX-5 rack thats thinner and will let me lower the engine a bit more.

Good news is the plenham came out very well after my welder Tim worked his magic, then I ported out the entrance where the throttle body bolts on  plus as above we have a solution to get the engine a little lower.

Mr Spiller

Yeah the mx5 one should work
When you said you'd try and sit it 6inch further back
I thought , it was hard enough beating the fire wall back an  inch to fit the standard intake , we even had to remove the brake lines .
Sounds way too much work  and fabrication .
How much do you think it will affect the balance of the car ?
Surely not that bad ?
Good news is , it's coming along progress is good
So a bit more wing or extra 20 litres of fuel to balance it out is it
