Forum intermittent

Apologies, the forum seems to have been intermittent for the past few days. Sometimes no perceptible issue, the next "not accessible, timed out" (or similar).

I reported it on Sunday, but the hosts said they couldn't see any problem.

I have reported it to UK2 (our hosting company) again, as there is clearly something amiss.

Ah glad it wasn't just me! Had noticed that Tapatalk wasn't connecting. Logged in via browser at the moment and managing to post things.

A weird one. I lost Tapatalk access, but it is now OK again, as id full forum access on PC and my phone.

UK2, our forum host, came back to me to say the reason I had intermittent access was due to:

Your IP address is getting blocked by the server firewall please see below

This is due to posting to the forum as a blank referrer

I have whitelisted your Cpanel account on the firewall so this should no longer happen.

(Note I have put XXX to hide my full IP address for security reasons).

I have to say I have never come across this before and barely understand what that all means. One clue though is the mention of "mobiquo" (that is my red highlighting in the text above). This is EXCLUSIVELY used by TapaTalk, so it appears that monster causing issues yet again


All appears OK again for now. If anyone else is having issues then it might be, if using Tapatalk, you have triggered a blacklisting block on the UK2 server firewall and this can probably only be resolved by sending your internet IP address to UK2 to get the block removed. Trouble is, when your ISP inevitably allocates you another IP address from their pool, will the block re-occur    Only time will tell.

I'm aware the admins on the RX-8 OC hate Tapatalk, with a passion, for the issues it has created on their forum. Looks like we may be suffering the same form the affects of having the Tapatalk plug-in software installed on our forum too.

They are presumably classing it as a proxy, and then blocking it based on that?
I avoid Tapatalk for exactly these reasons... it should be a great forum aggregation tool...its just so painful to use though.

I absolutely agree Brett. Tapatalk is a great concept, but it constantly causes issues for all forums where I see the constant issues it causes.

Hi Malcolm, ive gotta be honest i use various forums exclusively with tapatalk...and MRC is the only 1 that causes me problems. Sorry lol
