Well as some of you have realised, with help from people around me such as steve@dsengineering, Jim (Lennycarlof) and  Pip,  I am going  to convert the RX-8 to a 3 Rotor monster with hopefully an eventual target of at least 700bhp.

We have the Gear Box and diff and an ECU/wiring system, thanks to Jim and engineering from Steve, is what is going to make the conversion feasible. Biggest issue we face will be packaging as the engine has to go back 150 cm into the bulkhead/ transmission tunnel, so the front of the engine sits in the standard RX-8 position.

Started already with the old engine removed and started gathering and ordering parts.

3 Rotor will be based around a brand new RX-7 FD3S engine with the extra Rotor housing, Rotor and Mid-Plate added on.

New Custom 3 Rotor Eccentric Shaft now ordered should be eight weeks away.

Special new sump has been ordered from Pineapple Racing and special weld on engine mounts have been ordered from Summit.

With the first race in March on the Silverstone GP track means the Target test time is really late January, so there's a big mountain to climb !!.

Eccentric shaft

Hmmmmmm over braps

Eccentric shaft

RX garage stuffed a four-rotor into one of their Rx8s. Kees Hoebeke told me that the fourth rotor was actually inside the car, behind the firewall. You'll have a bit more space with "only" three.  ;D

Kees brought this to one of the Rotorstock events we used to run and from memory it was on carbs with one on show where the glove box used to be.

Pip was in Norway last week mapping.

He found this power at less than one bar of boost and look at the torque curve, this should pull the RX-8 along nicely and this is wheel horsepower  :icon_thumleft:

Mr Spiller

That's a very nice looking graff

Yesterday I managed to reduce  Jim's excellent work into a heap of spaghetti or even worse minestrone  :(

Seriously,  I have needed to strip the car this far to be able to cut the gearbox tunnel to accommodate the engine and get the weight back in the car so as not to destroy its handling.

Next week I should have the engine mountings in from Summit and the 20B upper manifold in from Texas then we can see how its going to be mounted

It's easily sorted, now it's nice and striped it maybe time for a PDU to clean up that spaghetti.
