Another, Terrible day yesterday, even worse at this stage we have no idea what is wrong with the car.

Apart from the steering column coming loose in qualifying which made things interesting holding the wheel in position while trying to steer.
At least that was an easy fix.

During the 20 minute session the car was running faultlessly with more power than before low down which was getting the car off the corners better. Then with two laps to go the car started misfiring badly allowing only half revs.

The tank took 30 litres of fuel so we hoped that this was the issue, but first race showed the computer said NO!
Turns out the ECU is seeing an issue and is restricting the revs to just 5000
Jim, with Pip on the phone worked tirelessly between races to no avail because as soon as the car saw any load it dropped the revs again.

Big issue now is we have no idea what's causing the problem and if we can even make next Saturdays event  :(

Ah you must be pulling your hair out and so disappointed. She shows such potential but i know that's posdibly a small consolation at the moment
the issue reveals itself and you can make some progress.

Launch control enabled? My mates honda had this when a speed sensor on his gearbox was bad. Would rev clean but no more than 5k.
Just a thought?

Would be nice if it turned out to be something simple like that. I have that issue on 7 as with no speedo/signal to the ecu i had to set my launch to the redline

Im just guessing tbh...
Gonnabe something sensor related/ setting and probably simple fix just gotta do head scratching fault diagnosis.... dyno time and hope fault replicates itself.
Onwards n upwards champ.

Clive sorry to hear about this let's hope you can replicate the issue and it is a straightforward fix and we are able to meet up next weekend.

We now have an operational car, now Pips found the offending banana !!.

It was a split pipe on the wastegate, Pip believes that the extra heat cooked the silicon that had only had a couple of races on it, failed potentially because of more laps than normal generating more heat.

What threw us was that the new ECU just saw an issue and cut the revs. Lost a race which was only really a test but after all it was being treated as a test day.

Would have needed to go back on the Dyno anyway as the map changed by compensating and putting more fuel in.

So two trips that add up to 850 miles for a banana :( :(

Well glad to hear it was something simple in the end. Disappointing but at least it's an easy fix

Well done Pip  :notworthy:

A disappointing day for you on Saturday, but so pleased to see the cause has been found and can easily be fixed! It proved the worth of the "test day", as for this to have happened next weekend would have been far worse!
