So, I have this thingy. Old drill bit, cut slot to the tip, and slide 80 grid sandpaper in it. Works just fine, and gets to difficult places

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Bit more work smoothing out the work where the chatter marks have been from the carbide bits. Don't want that carbon sticking on the real ones
Try the inlet runners next. Do some port matching on the proper plates and the intake manifold.

Not going to enlarge the primaries and secondaries, want to keep the air speed quick and maintain good tick over and as much mid range torque as possible. Just give the runners a clean up or smooth out the transition from runner to port opening

Hopefully just modding the auxiliary ports and the rotating valves it will give it a more significant noticeable kick at 6500rpm upwards

Ok first real plates tonight

Ported one on right ...

Exhaust opening sooner.... Cleaned up shelf.

Extended the top auxiliary to say open that bit longer.

Interesting fact..... well
I didn't know anyway ...

192 on left.... 231 on right.

Not only is it just a 4 port. I.e no auxiliary

But the exhaust a lot smaller.

So when you put the same template on and grind to the scribe....., the 192 has more of a slope, and the 231 more of a rad around the water jacket

I wonder if the gains for the 192 are greater as a result or will the lack of intake still be the governing factor.....

I have a vague memory that someone once told me the 192 responds better to porting ....

I wouldn't be surprised, based on the size of the exhaust.

However it will only push out the same amount of what it can suck in lol

re japi

Yes, LowPower exhaust is smaller. Can be done to HighPower size

I dont know what Mazda thought by doing that. I quess fuel economy

However, for those few LP engines that I have ported, owners have told me that there might be mid range torque and horses gain. With much less opening porting that you have done. So makes me wonder why didnt Mazda do it

For next engine, I really want to do same port opening that you have done. I havent have guts to do it yet

Anyhoo, looking good mate

Quick update,

Ive roughed out all the necessary ports, just need a tickle and chamfer on the ports. Then clean up the transition on the runners,

Need a bit of port matching with the aid of the intake gasket. popped the engine togther with some scrap housings minus the e shaft and rotors. Not taking too much off the primaries and secondaries, keep that air speed fast.

Not doing anything to the runners themselves, but now Ive opened up the auxilary ports, i need to mod the auxilary port valves.

Pictures tell 1000 words.

Noticed the stationary gear assembly oil way doesnt line up with the hole in the oil way of the rear plate.

You can see the dark half circle around the outside of the hole.

Die grinder it is then !

Have an investigate before doing anything.
From memory, isn't this the drain hole and in that case it may be offset deliberately

Nope it goes from oil filter through the rear plate into where the rear stationary bearing is.

One of the reasons some people run a loop line from the oil filter sandwich plate to the front plate, so the front stat bearing does nt have to wait for the oil to travel all down the e shaft.

Rear stat bearing is definitely fed from that hole not drained
