Finally!!!

I can get round to do the jobs not normally possible

So glassing the A posts to the roll cage in similar vain to how they're welded to roll cage in steel cars.

A bit of extra rigidity, it also repairs the flange that the rubber door trim pushes onto. I think the car has been pushed at some point and the ham fisted fella snapped the flange.

On a serious note..... there's no strength to these A posts. Heaven only knows how anyone survived a roll over crash in one of these Elans???

I'd be stuffed without my block n tackle.

When separating the body is a 1 man job.

Admittedly the hole for the roof vent is a huge help

I think the use of the roof hole was more luck than judgement buddy.

The last contraption I made was a cage that went around the outside.

Thankfully I can lift it up off the roll cage now.

But Christ it makes life easier

I dunno if Im losing the plot or not ( dont answer that) Im sure Ive asked this question before but im damned if I can find it.

So question for anyone running RX8 drive line.

I have a 6 speed manual and a 5 speed manual. A mark one 4.44 diff and an a later R3 4.7 diff.

I know Paul wasnt impressed when he swapped his 6 speed for a 5 speed one, but not sure what diff ratio he was using.

Can anyone recommend a good combo out of those options or keep it stock?

Thanks

J

I can't help with that one, but Clive has used both a 5 speed and 6 speed gearbox in his race car, plus a variety of different ratios  so can hopefully offer some insights.

Id use the 6 speed with the r3 diff. Perfect for na if your using the 18" rx8 alloys.
If using a smaller dia wheel id use the standard 4.4 else with the 4.7 1st will be very short.
There are diff calculators online you can have a play with.
