Here we go/

Not an RX-8 but the engine block oil flow diagram is the same less the turbo.

No 1 is a pressure relief valve with a spring and plunger behind. No 2 is the actual pressure regulator which Malcolm indicated.

For the sump you really don't need anything different, you just need a reducer under your new filler neck to stop the oil washing up and getting into the intake etc.
Hope this helps
Thanks for clarifying Clive.

Unfortunately I'm a bit further down the road and already have the burpy oil catch tank.

I don't mind so much making a new sump. The old one is a bit tatty.

I'd sooner be welding up a new sump than blasted wiring lolll... head fried recently. I'm currently pestering the Wiltshire electron witch doctor every 5 mins of the day for support.

The bill is running up lol

Yes, thats pressure release valve. You need some clearence around it.

If you are considering to use baffle plate, check out some reference pics from google to see how people layed out those holes.

For me, I made one for my engine for few reasons. Using 6 mm steel plate, it (hopefully) makes engine block more stronger when engine wants to warp

It also creates some extra oil volume to sump. However, im still using stock lengt pick up.

But if you want to do completely new sump, its a different story. Rennys sump is quite good compared to older models tho

I've had a bit of an oil leak on my 8 , been there a while
Took it apart last night to have a look
Seems the baffle plate I bought , the hole was in the wrong place at the front , this was effectively stopping the baffle plate and sump sealing together when bolts were tightened

I have since modified the hole so it fits
Hope that helps Jamie

Yes, that is obvious problem. And another obvious is that regulator is directed straight into seals (basically outwards). So you should direct that oil squirt from regulator towards middle of the pan. And under that, big hole to baffle plate.
Also dont forget dipstick hole

Some used OEM gasket seal to seal oil pan. I didnt because of baffle plate. Good tip to get good seal between basically three surfases, is that when you aply sealant glue/mass (or whateva), do not tighten those bolts. Let it set about half an hour, and then torque it

Hope these help too

Oh I have the right job.

Lol yeah it helps.

The perks are worth a lot to me. And being 10 mins down the road.

My days of travelling the country doing technical sales are long gone.

Miss the company car, but the money instead pays for go faster rotus parts lol
