I've never been into " tarts handbags" or trailer queens to the extent that they have the inside of the exhaust cleaned with toothbrushes etc.

I can appreciate the work n effort that goes into some of these paint jobs with ghosting n shadows that you see on these low rider kustoms. But it's more of a colouring book on wheels than a car lol

If it looks straight, clean lines I'm largely happy.

It doesn't have to look stock (HA no risk there with this plastic pig) but if it all looks cohesive, planned out and well built, it's all good in my book.

Morning all,

I have a question for the usual gang.........

The RX8 oil filler neck is a big cumbersome thing. Apart from housing the solenoids at the back for the VDI, SSV and air blower(third pic), I cannot see any electrical or mechanical features.

So my question is, can this be replaced with a more simper set up like on the earlier 13b and 12A ( forth pic) Im wondering if I can just weld a tube to a flange and bolt onto the block where the stock one bolts to?

Does anyone know if there is any baffles etc on the inside to prevent burping ( well if there is they dont work ) Obviously a new neck will need venting at the top as per stock set ups.

Just interested to know if its possible, more for aesthetic purposes than any performance improvments

The solenoids can be relocated easy enough.

Lemme know please......

fanx

Ref oil filling tube. I tried lots of ways to stops burps.. the only thing that stopped it was the sump.
Renny engines had a redesign of the oil tube 2006 onwards.
I see no reason why you cant design your own if using a gated sump..and moving solenoid coils..cant remember if vacuum chamber is attached to tube or uim mind.
I know you have plan for a sump so you should be ok. Its got to breath though else youll get a pressurised sump that will blow the sump seal and possibly diptick out and possible engine smoking. I did some tests with rx7 too and sump znd Clive catchtank return to sump i believe to be the best solution.

Yeah I remember you pointing out the plumbing on Clive's when we were at castle Combe at japfest.

The oil catch tank I built will drain to sump in similar fashion but I remember Clive's tapped into the front housing.

Fair point on the vacuum chamber I could dissect one and move that with the solenoids. I bought another second hand filler off eBay this morning for 11 quid

That's 2 I can play with

On the 7 i played about with various designs and none worked.
The baffle plate in sump reduced it but still burped. I tried penny washer checkvalves etc in the end i hooked up that old v8 diaphrapm carb pump to return to oil filler neck. Wayne doesnt seem to suffer from this? What you done Wayne

That will slow him down.

Mines a 2007 so never suffered an oil burp
I have in last few years also fitted a Greddy sump and baffle plate
I think the baffle plate helps earlier cars .
Easy peezy just a sheet of alu  with a few holes
