That's a bit of Handful
Love how he's bobbing up and down whilst trying to control the car .
I know that not your style Clive ,
If you were driving in that manner do you think you could squeeze a bit more time out or would you be slower ?

When I started racing there were no tips on how to drive a race car, but one that stuck with me as a kid, was standing at the bottom of Paddock and thinking how slow James Hunt was going in his M23. All the others were banzaiing, four wheel drift, back out, opposite lock etc.

To my amazment, James stuck it on pole! this taught me that the fastest way is always to have all the wheels pointing as straight as possible and to be as smooth as possible.

Quite simply, if a cars sliding sideways, it ain't going forward and your tyres are not gripping properly!

Someone also said once, you should use the throttle like there's an egg between your foot and the pedal, which is a good deffinition

The RX-8 has more than enough power to showboat and look spectacular but I know 100% it would be slower.

People have said before the RX-8 just looks slow from the outside, then they see from the inside how hard it's being to keep it in check with the steering wheel being constantly "adjusted" !

That should answer your question about the Skyline, best not ask for the long version to the same question  :)) :)) :)) :)).

That pretty much what I thought
My mate Owen takes the mick because I don't throw the arse end out
But simply can't really with lack or torque
I do admire your clean driving

Wayne, I did miss out one very important thing, which is a little difficult in the road car you need to drive home :)), I learnt by crashing!

When I started at 16 for the first few years, If a car spun, you could bet your life that I would hit it and I did!
This taught me to always look up the road at what's going on, not the two feet of tarmac in front of me!

Over the years I have had a barrel roll at Brands when the front suspension failed which led to a flip then rolling, some said 9 some said 12 times, been hit head on twice after being spun in the pack.

I have been knocked out twice and had a nice ride in the ambulance, plus I found out two years ago during an x-ray that I had broken my back at some time during my racing career!

Like I said,  I learnt by crashing!
All the best Clive

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Very nice Anglia you had there for your track debut, Clive!  :notworthy: 1498cc GT or 1600 Crossflow power? I assume you got rid of pushrods, valves, camshaft and other non-essentials at a later stage?

Hmmmmmm over braps

This was 1973 and we were only allowed 1200cc / although i'm sure some were using 1340's which was still a three bearing crank!

This was the only race that I did as at 16 I wasn't old enough to hold a licence and was told not to apply for any more events!,

I had to wait another year to race on big tracks like Brands Hatch, then I raced 850 mini's the next season anyway.

As you can see the focus is on Thunder Saloon, going to update my brochure in the hope of getting a sponsor to help costs and build the engine I now want to build.

Looks like the rounds of Thunder will be on TV so hopefully that may help get a sponsor.

Protyre Motorsport have decided to help with the Thunder Saloon side of things and are sending me 14 tyres for free next week. / Ten Slicks and four wets , same tyres as they supply for the British GT Championship
