I bet there isn't much difference in weight between carbon and glass?

Certainly a difference in price though

And rigidity........

Can I make a suggestion Clive? Based on my own experience of cutting the inner skins out my lotus doors.

The doors are fine when shut, but become very  whippy and flimsy once opened, which can be problematic trying to shut them.

For the sake of a few grams. If you got Steve to fit some wire with an eyelet each end like on the photo below.

Do it diagonally so 2 pieces of wire in a big X per door It could help prevent them being so flimsy.

You only need like 2 or 3mm diameter steel wire, you won't notice the weight.

Grant I would say you correct, unless they were proper prepeg carbon, its the resin that makes the weight.

Many thanks for the advice Jamie.
One of the reasons I am leaving the rear alloy doors in place is so they wibbly wobbly front doors have somthing firm to close against

Clive just glue the doors shut and exit nasxar style, you can save a few pounds more then by losing the rear doors and all the latches

I could live with that but we have to have front doors that open  ;)

Apparently my last race @ Donnington in a couple of weeks has 40 cars on the grid 🤔, could have been worse, it could have been 75, now that would have been real exciting😁

Track Attack Wayne next Sunday.

"if" I can get a couple of good places, I think it will give me the championship for a hat trick third year.

One car of of interest will be the RX-8 engined MX-5

After seeing Malcolm's  picture @ Snetterton with the bonnet lifting more than ever, I decided to employ the set of Singular Motorsports Bonnet Louvers I had laying around.
I know the guys spent a long time developing these and they have a gurney style flap "stand up" at the front to create a low pressure dam to make the Louvers extract air.

https://www.racingbeateurope.com/rx8-03-11-bonnet-louvers-by-singular-motorsports-2261-p.asp

Also this year since the scoop when in to give the intercooler clean air, the engine has run 10degrees hotter, so I think these will solve that as well.
They come complete with a sticker to cut to and you will see Steve got to the tin snips before I got the chance to attack it and make it all wibbly wobbly ;)
All the best Clive
