Tighter than a nun's c u next tuesday.
No idea how I'm going to get that acordian pipe on. Need to shave a bit off the VFAD mouth, it clashes with the bumper. Should have it back on 4 wheels tomorrow
Expansion bottle is mounted evening

Paul_13

That was a twat of a job getting that acordian pipe on.
Engine bay back together.
Front bumper half on. Need to finish that off tomorrow.
Also had confirmation my job role isn't at risk, so that's a bonus!

Winner winner chicken dinner!!!

Great news on the job

Car looks good too

All back together. Need to drop it on all 4 wheels.

Paul_13

Drives well. It's quieter.
Only problem is the PAS isn't kicking in. Fault code present

Paul_13

Looks like my earth connection to the EPS ecu was heavily corroded

Paul_13

Just started it problem solved

Paul_13

Drives well. Power delivery has changed a bit.
It's quieter. But does heat up loads when stood idling

Jamie R

Liking this Paul.

You’re doing what Mazda should have done

So bit of an update.
Still running lean at light throttle at 5.5k.
Replaced the upper inlet manifold
Sourced a replacement set of Injectors
Checked all breathers /joints on inlet.
Checked fuel pump pressure (4.5 bar at a standstill)

Still running lean.

I've now resorted to replacing the exhaust manifold with the oe unit.

I've got some seals turning up from Clive for the injectors and VDI

Grant Monkhouse

Have you had the injectors cleaned at all?

Paul_13

No, but the same symptom appears across both sets of Injectors I have tried, making me think it's something else.
A whole ago I had to weld up the exhaust mount due to stainless steel cracking under stress. I wonder if there's another crack I can't see

Grant Monkhouse

What about fuel filter? I take it its only going lean at 5.5k? Does it richen back up after that?

Paul_13

Yes, it's fine fine above 5.5k. 13:1 to 11:1 AFR
