Put the alternator in middle of adjuster and then see how much slack you got. minus that from current belt. remove belt the number should be on it which is its length. trundled off to motor factors and buy a new shorter belt. current belt minus slack equals new belt.
there are step changes in belt sizes so buy 2 sizes and that should avoid disappointment.

Have to ask...accepting that you never sleep and appear to be able to do everything - is there a master spreadsheet, collection of fag packets, table napkins or blackboard somewhere on which you list tasks and chart progress?  I get dizzy jumping from alternators to air vents and just wondered how you kept track of it all.  :D

Oh god no I make it up as I go along. Today is the first day I scrapped an idea and gone back to the drawing board, photo below.

I don’t have any drawings of how it’s gonna look. I know what’s in my head but I can’t put words to it lol.

I’ll get all the bodywork done when look at mechanicals

Jinx I wish I could do everything, I can’t spray, I’m rubbish at the understanding of auto electrics. I’ve never rebuilt a 4 stroke engine myself.

I know my limitations, I’d rather pay someone to do what they’re good at

Hooray...score one (small) point for the armchair dreamer. :D  I can paint....just not get anything I've ever made in glass fibre out of the mould intact, which makes being able to paint it....vaguely pointless.  ;D.

BTW - As to originality - have you overlooked the doors?  I seem to remember they still look like they did when it left Hethel?

No inner skin, they’re a bit floppy atmo.

Thinking of fitting door bars to the cage.

Not for safety, summat to perch on gettin in an out coz those kirkey seats come sharp.

The door bars will go into the void of the door for more room so a custom “door card” is required.

The side windows will be polycarbonate and fixed hence the need for a roof vent.  So they won’t interfere with the door bars.

Lots to do.

Good man on the paint
