Hi guys, i have been looking at some adapters which change the upper intake from an FC to ones from an FD, can any of the tunning guru\'s or anyone in the know tell me if this is a worthwhile change. I know other things will have to be changed as well, but whats the verdict.

t2rew

apparently the fc one is restrictive compared to the fd one and lots of yanks change there\'s

Hello again, this is a Mod i\'ve done myself. its not that the Fd Upper is bigger its atualy smaller runners (looks better too with the FMIC.

It does\'nt have a Plenum (spelling) chamber and as you all know the smaller the runners the less the Turbo has to work to fill it.

The FD has bigger Butterflys in the TB as well (2x55 and 1x45 as opossed 3x45) you may have to look into getting an After market TPS though and a Greddy Elbow.

If you are good with a Die grinder and know somone that can Ally weld its not a problem.

Basicly how you do it, you get a Fc Inlet Gasket, have somone weld the cutout between the two primary runners up and file/Mill it flat again (if you look at the FD upper where it mates to the lower the Fc does\'nt have that cut out and its too close to the Runner when you port match it) then you can place the gasket on the FD manifold and grind it out to fit it exactly.

You will have to clean up the lower too as that does\'nt fit the Gasket Exactly.(o yeh and you have got to get the center bolt spot on with the gasket as thats a royal pain to open the hole up)

Once all that is done you can oval out the holes on the upper to get it over the Studs. You may also want to try it all together as i had to grind a bit of the Bottom on the Upper to clear the Fuel rail.

Bit of TPS messing and your done.

If you are feeling realy brave you can do the same as me, use a 20b TB and elbow (i just had one liying around and did\'nt have a Third gen one) i cut the Elbow and made it shorter. I like that as the Idle screw is on the top.

Hi Chris
So from what i understand of what you wrote, you used no adapter plate, just made the two fit together correctly. Basically giving the same effect.

So with this mod, did  you notice a difference, they certainly seem keen on it in the States and say it does make a marked improvement, so what do you reckon.....

Grizzly

First off they did\'nt fit together when i started.

I did\'nt do it for a power advantage, in fact i did\'nt notice any more power.

I did it to get rid of the stock T2 manifold with all its IC holes etc (looks alot better) this is why they like them in the US don\'t think you will get masive HP gains from this.

Jetpilot....just bring this post back, i notice you have done this mod, did you notice any difference?
Panspeed tuned FC3S.......

samfc3s

or can you just change the throttle body on the FD to FC?
Panspeed tuned FC3S.......

samfc3s

seems lot more complicated than i thought

It wasnt massively complicated, but then RX Motors did it for me anyway, he he! But it didnt seem that complicated to be honest. As for the difference, i cant really say as i had loads of other mods done at the same time, should be better though as you have better throttle position control on the fd throttle body and also shorther inlet tracks by all accounts. Hope this helps.

shortcircuit

jetpilot, how much did they charge if you dont mind me asking ?

jetpilot

Got to be honest mate, i dont know as i had loads of other work done!
Sorry.

shortcircuit

thats ok , i\'l give them a ring and get a price.
