Finished my read . Fair play Clive I never realised the troubles you went through in the first two years to get it where it is now .
I guess perseverance is the key
Right , who’s selling a 13b REW kit

I will,  just at a smaller budget to Clive’s and less bhp . Should be more reliable than a Greddy kit rx8

Many thanks Wayne.

I always know I could make the car a winner and was determined not to give up and let the Rotary world down and as the first to complete the task keeping all the RX-8 chassis stuff working, it was a challenge to my sanity and my pocket,  I even had the series promoter taking the mick at times over the cars reliability till I jokingly said I was going to another series.

Bit different now as he wants to keep the car in the series because as he says, the spectators and commentators love the car. :)) :))

It was not just dogged determination, it was also many people around me that played a big part in making it reliable with Jon on here and Pip at WGT and Steve who you will see mentioned all playing a big part in helping.    :great:

All the best Clive

That’s right Clive , I had followed it a bit over the last 18 months but was unaware of the problems you had at the start , really frustrating . Yes , much help and advice from the right people  at the right times I guess .
I’m a bit gutted as I had the opportunity to get a rew conversion kit 3 years back but opted for the Greddy , I was told the rew was a Money pit . Hindsight eh .....
The Greddy has been a similar situation ( money pit ) which until I get it to pip still is t running right .
A good learning curve nevertheless .

Received my new slick tyres today, well new to me.

These 10" wide soft Yokohama's were allegedly used in Macau on Rob Huffs World Touring Car Cup car. They do look very new and still have good meat on them, all six for £170 delivered has got to be a result and even more of a result if the car goes faster  ;)

Getting them changed onto my rims in readiness for the Brands Press / Test day.
Hopefully these tyres will help the car in the odd Thunder Saloon or All Comers events this year.

But Track Attack is still my main series.

My set of Extreme (road/track day tyres) that found me lots of time will be up for sale soon, as I am going for very soft compound for this season because as my downforce is going up, the car is becoming kinder and kinder to its tyres  :great:.

I always thought that if your aero gave more down force etc then it would be harder on the tyres?

Down force is like adding weight yeah?

If your spining or sliding tyres through corners then they will get hotter, so because more downforce helps both of these aspects the car with the extra grip downforce provides the car becomes kinder on its tyres.

Either that or I'm just driving the car way too slow  ???.

Always learning, last year I found the outside tread area was going blue, I asked a friend who was invited along to a Tyre test with Hankook using a DTM car and from this he learned that being too aggressive on the warm up laps heats the top layer of the tyre too quick and turns the rubber blue!.

I had to do this with the Toyo's to find heat to get them to work but not with the Extreme tyres, even the hard compound ones.

I did get a bit more serious last year and was taking not only pressures but also Tyre Temperatures.

I will be buying some super soft Extreme tyres for Track Attack, against Extreme's recomendation but as I said to them, I am only 2-3 degrees over their recomendation.

To start with I will run mediums up the the outside and softs up the inside and see what I get, however for the Brands test/ Media day I am going to run the new slicks ;)

Reminds me of Gary McCoy in the latter days on the 500cc two stroke Moto go era on the yzr Yamaha. He went everywhere side wards and his tyres went blue/purple.

Claimed it only “cooked” the surface with no detrimental affect to the carcass

Yes that's it, but from what my mate told me, it means the tyre hasn't got proper heat through the tyre fully. I stopped being quite so aggressive  after finding that out and found no grip difference on the first couple of laps.
