Welp!

Design flaw on the mould, should have made it 3 piece not 2 piece.

Theres an undercut around the third brake light hole. Destroyed the pattern getting it out.

Basically trying to squeeze a pumpkin through a letterbox.

I was gonna cut the mould off the product, but i cant lay up that area properly, so ill purposely short shot it and repair the spoiler after it comes out the mould.

Oh well, cant win them all lol

I'm so losing interest at the mo. Its just constant filler, sandpaper and GRP.

I realize I have to do these bits before i can work on other stuff.

I just wanna drive it and enjoy it....... i hate working in sh** and dust everywhere.....

Ugh sorry! just getting frustrated......

I really sympathise with this situation-----------------been there so many times  :-[ like you say, just wanna drive it.

I so hope you finish this because as you know so so many cars become multiple garage fodder where they change hands again and again only to eventually disappear ::)  I so so hope this car sees the light of day and wow's everyone out there, who can see the Jamie Experience in person.

Just last night,  I heard of two RX-7 race cars up for sale after both changing hands having been bought with the best of intentions,  I now wonder if either cars will ever see the light of day again !!

I so hope this car does not fall into this type of abyss.

Look I even found someone to help you get there

Thanks for the kick up the a$$ Clive.

I don’t throw the towel in that easy. I’ll definitely finish it. No worries there.

I’ve put too much heart n soul into it.

I’ve got a surprise hopefully at the end of the month that will feed my rotary needs.

My gears are going a million miles an hour, I have so many ideas in my head that I want to build, I just want to finish this. I just need to turn a corner.

Just on a downer. Prolly cuz I didn’t have a very productive weekend. Then back to work . I’m a little more peppy tonight.... progress is good touch wood

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Cheers Kaveri, it will get there soon.

Be a 2 year project this Xmas, I have to remind myself from time to time the work thats been done so far. Its not like I can go and buy a whojamawotsit for bast@rd love child of a Lotus-Mazda mongrel.

Im very lucky Emma is tolerant and she understands that it wont build itself. Not that she can chase me out the shed. I need to build a conveyor belt from the kitchen to the shed so she can send me down cheese n pickle sarnies hahaha.

So got up at ridiculous o clock.......

moulded the lotocones in. it must be a Lotus-term, as can find them on t'internet. I recycled these ones from bits of original bodywork I cut away and no longer needed. Theyre cast ally I think, I just drill them out and tap with metric thread.

Moulded in some ally strip so i can drill and tap later to mount the light.

They dont have any loading on them just enough GRP to hold them in place and stop twisting from doing up and undoing. They pull closer to the body work when you crank them up so they wont shear off.

thickened the critical areas that need a bit more beef.

Keep at it.
I hit a downer when I was trying to sort the wiring on mine. Felt like it was taking forever. Truth was I was drinking whilst doing it :)
Then I turned 30, thought sh!t I've got to sort myself out. Plus the wife made a birthday cake which had the mx5 in pieces on.
That was sign I needed to lose weight and sort the car out
