Well ive either got soft, seen sense or I dunno what it is, maybe just getting old, or the resin fumes have got to me.

I wanted to try and maintain the original lotus lines as much as possible......

.... Ive been told by 2 different people that the +2 was called the "slippery" elan due to its drag coeofficent of 0.3 which was excellent for its day compared to other cars of the era.

Ive not found any evidence on t'interweb to back up this nickname but the figures are true.

To put it in perspective, fast forward to 2018, the Mazda 3 has a coefficent of 0.27 and it is the top 10 list of the most aerodynamic cars of 2018.

It would be a shame to change the classic lines, but as Ive changed the wings and the front end, added diffuser, its looks like im going to succumb to the fitment of a spoiler.

The slippery nautre is great for fuel economy ( well the rotary has thrown out that arguement ) and for a greater top speed (lose my license on the road or find a track with a long straight to find its top speed)

The trade off will be added drag on the back end for increase downforce with a fitment of a spoiler and other flaps.

Clive gave me an insight at Beaulieu about Dan Gurney who fitted aluminum plates on the back of NASCARs etc but made them interchangeable.

So I thought a spoiler with a feature so I can play around with different size flaps... we're only talking flaps an inch high if that but they make the difference.

So this morning I started laying out the base on the original boot lid, just to get the right shape and it uses up the last dregs of resin......

The diffuser mould comes off today, wont be doing anymore on that till after my holiday.

p.s. I posted the blue Lotus coz I know Jon likes blue!

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Thanks bud, been away lots of times with work, China, Dubai, Saudi, Serbia, Germany, but I haven’t had a holiday abroad for over 10 years, so I’m enjoying the prospect of doing nothing and relaxing, but we do have a “rotary” washing line

Nope I’m always looking, the most interesting thing I’ve seen on the drive from the airport to the villa was a mark 1 Escort in maize yellow.

Thanks Malcom, how was Italy ?

Still here in Italy and it's gorgeous! Here's my current view, sitting in in shade for a while on the hotel terrace with the whole of the Bay of Naples in sight, Mount Vesuvius hiding behind a flower pot and flagpole  ;)

We return home late tomorrow, very sadly :(

Sorry if pic big, can't easily resize on my phone.

Wow looks gorgeous darling !

We’ve done breakfast, had 2 hours frying my skin. A few lengths of the pool and doing some more swotting before lunch.

Jons had an email from euro millions but because we’re not in the uk they won’t let him access the content of the email.

I could be the associate of a millionaire !!

I’m going to have to go against tradition and let Emma propose to me so I don’t look like a gold digger. lol
