Hi mate working weekend for me so v busy at work. Right here we go.
231 and 192s do not dyno at there published figures but do go up the road and bum dyno suggests its accurate and head to heads with similiar powered cars.

Some reasons are the stability control system senses the front wheels are not turning and rains in the power...

So bridgeported de catted modded cars make 200 whp standard cars are making 170whp on rolling roads.

The traction control system can be turned off  but its never really off still has some control.
People say that if you press and hold button it completely switches off but im not so sure as generates a fault in system. That resets on cycling off power.

Westy runs a street port...with 231...at 4.1 final drive...at 560kg...its rapid acceleration in 1 2 3 4 then ok in 5 and dull in 6th.
I think your gonna be fine with the standard 4.4. But if not swap out later on...
The converted mx5 i drove was a 5.? Still wasnt as quick as Westy...but on ohlins handled sweet. But power to weight is your friend.

Cheers Jon,

Im in a bit of a quandry.............. Its all about budget and ease of swapping bits.......

... yeah I probably will be fine with 4.44 diff and run my 5 speed for a bit of added lightness, but the car is built for the 6 speed, so I can pop that back on without any dramas of cutting chassis rails off etc.

I'd love to buy a brand new 4.77 cwp off Clive, but then I need to budget a diff rebuild.

Ive just located an R3 diff complete for 375 quid collected with 56k miles on it, at that price I'd take a punt.

Then I have a "plug n play" with diff swaps for different locations etc. for the sake of a few bolts

I've done a fair bit of playing with bmw ms43/2 ecu's and the abs/dsc unit is practically identical to the mazda rx8 unit.
All the dsc/abs unit does its send a signal to the ecu to limit torque and power. If this dsc system is missing or switched off (hence the dtc) the ecu remains producing full power.
A fail safe on the bmw ecu if the abs signal is missing, is to put the ecu into limp mode (5k max revs) I remove this when I map ecu's.

I’m running no abs or dsc, removed the sensors completely and the standard braking system, due to the bias pedal box. I’m hoping the adaptronic Ecu will let me dial stuff like that out

6 speed....for na...nice close gears.
Clive with mega hp then stronger 5 speed as his Torque compensates for the longer gearing...i love the 6 speed crunches too...lol.
Right back to the civic....VTEC just kick in yo!!!! Vtec like bridgeport!!!! Happy with my mornings work...bodged the exhaust...all wheels off...deceased a slider pin....spanked in down the trading est....got a bit of understeer... not much in it compared to the colt lol.

Finally!!

16 days since I stuck the polystyrene slabs together. Ive got the pattern finished!

Apart from last weekend its been non stop. 12 hours today on it.. Shattered.com

Got the treacle primer on.

This has to be one of the most technically challenging jobs, seriously. Theres datums everywhere, measurements after measurments getting the right curvature upwards and outwards.

Try and get a mould off it before the weekend.

Im gonna have to DA the lawn before I can mow it  :))

Ala, formula 1,  Yep should able to drive upside down on the ceiling with that one ;).

All the best Clive

hahaha

Im stepping into the unknown, im gonna have to run it and then take it off to see what difference it actually makes.

There's an important design feature that isn't on there yet, but will be added before the mould is made.

There's potentially another 4 parts to make yet to complete the diffuser, but I've not got that far yet.

One step at a time lol

So the important feature is............

In homage to the fog light on the back of the RX8........... there will be a rotor shaped hole for the exhaust pipe to pop out of.

I didnt like it with the point poking down in the conventional sense as per the little cut outs in the headrests etc. but in the grnd scheme of things a "Doritio" on my car, shows a bit of what under the bonnet.
