Well done Clive.  Looks like you found some lap time in race 2.  Will be interested to hear from your perspective.

Great pictures Malcolm.

Snetterton 26th May.
Race report /

With new hard compound Xtreme VR2 tyres fitted I found that whilst the car felt better during turn in due to the rear bar being set stiffer but still not very good in qualifying compared to others ahead even though the car was faster around Snetterton than last year and ended up a disappointing 7th.

Come the race, god it was boring and spent the race holding off Steve Cassar in his Honda Type R, after the race we were both perplexed that we were running 2 seconds a lap down on our qualifying, finishing as we started, a very distant  7th and  8th.

I really could not work out why the car had no pace and was all set to put the car back on the rolling road!
So disappointed was I that at riding around without even being able to see the leaders, I was literally all set to put the car on the trailer before I had a rethink.

I did realise the car was a little “fluffy” but only the top at the last 200 revs so went for a spark plug change plus I put the rear wing flap back to its original setting and as I said to Lisa, lets treat the track as a big rolling road.

As soon as I got out for the warm up lap the car was instantly more responsive, so it was just the plugs. I also realised this is why the car seemed to lack grunt in the second race at Combe last time out.

This time the tyres had grip from the off, so they obviously needed a couple of heat cycles to bring them alive properly. Sadly there will be no video but for those who heard the commentary I was determined that I would not let them drop me at the start from 7th on the grid for this second race!

The super quick Nova thing promptly  became a lemming throwing itself off the track leaving me to attack the super quick Cleo’s behind the Rich Hockley Hoda Type That had made a run for it!

Working my way to an eventual second overall and finding a huge improvement from 2-17 seconds down to a 2-13 and more importantly having a really enjoyable race, largely due to the new tyres.

If any of you have driven Snetterton will know that from Wilson through Bomb Hole into Coram it's tough and for the first time I could get the car down all the way through Bomb hole and out literally flat out in third without lifting and for once the other cars could not make up ground on me :).

For this week I need to change the fuel pot again as the fuel gauge has died and then as Lisa said, with the different tyres and suspension set up, let’s take it to JDM on Saturday to check out the differences, so that’s what we are going to do.

Lastly, thanks to Malcolm for being "spanner man" for the day  :great:

Here we go Jon, this picture shows how hard they try!

These may look like normal cars but god knows what goes into them moneywise!
I watched one of the Type R's grenade a 3k gear box and another I race against downloading and analysing and overlaying his laps, lap by lap on a 2K V-Box!!, cant say they dont take their racing seriously then  ;)

Yes with the gt class system you can see what power there running..gt 150 to gt350.
They dont have that so good knows what power that at ...but clios quicker than a gt300 civic says it all really...
I know the 106 last year a 1.6 was 280bhp...and weighed the same as a paper cup!

With no forward camera working for race two, real pleased that Tony Hunter who started Race 2 in front of me has put his video up.

This has really let me see that the car is 100% better through Bomb Hole and off the end of the main straight where before I got eaten by these cars previously   :great:

You will see my car from around 9 minutes on.

Lots of flames less smoke...has the extended exhaust tip aided exhaust exit combustion?

Well, I found out why the fuel has been reading wrong then not at all, I recon Harry Houdini  got in there and performed a magic trick to wrap the wire around the float rod!

The whole assembly had come un-clipped from the inside the bottom of the tank.
