I agree with Clive

But flywheel, I wouldnt go with lighter one. Thats the only thing that keeps Rennys torque in decent numbers.

Ive heard good and bad for both lightened and stock, Im gonna keep it stock for now, its not a huge task to swap it out at a later date.

I need to get a feel for the car, everything is new, suspension, the geometry, wheels/ tyres, there are going to some bits I like and some bits I don't.
I agree

OK guys, I apologise in advance, more stupid questions, but in my defence, If I ask Q? im a fool for 5 mins, if I dont ask Im a fool forever!

So, been on RBE web site and looking at Electric Water Pumps. Happy with the concept, and like the look of the additional LCD controller, will look ace sat behind the steering wheel as all the rest of the gauges are in the middle of the dash....

Anyway
1, The Davies Craig controller will control the stock fan set up? as well as the pump.
2, see photo, Im assuming behind my hand and the hose is the thermostat?
3, If i remove the entire stock water pump and use the blanking plate from RBE, will the thermostat housing and pipework inlets and outlets for the rad and heater disappear with the pump? i.e. its all one casting
4, if so, what is the best way to get the water back into the engine?
5, if I remove the stock water pump (weight saving :icon_thumleft:) is a ribbed belt available for the lower pulley and alternator?

Diff topic

6, I think i read somewhere, that you should use mineral oil as semi and fully synthetic fouls plugs. If I run a sperate tank just with 2 stroke oil in for lubricating inside the rotor housings, is it then beneficial to use semi or fully synthetic for lubricating the E shaft?
7, if my assumptions in Q6 correct can any one send any pics or links showing the set up?
8, is this the preffered method, by running a seperate oil tank, or did I just dream that up?

Thanks guys.......still feel like a fool lol

There are no stupid questions
Here is my few stupid answers:
1: I actually dont know can it control stock fan. I reckon that there will be some difficulties cause stock ecu is quite clever, you have to overwrite it somehow
2: Thermostat should be under upper neck of waterpump
3: There is neck adapters for removing stock water pump. However, you have to figure out how to do modify whole cooling/heating system. And you need new thermostat to control it
4:From that adapter, water goes back to engine. If I remember correctly, from left water goes out, from right water comes in
5:Dunno for sure, but removing that pulley, doesent matter. For alternator and you can use just one belt, straight from lower pulley
6:I dont know, there is so much different opinions
7:Im not sure how Rennys OMP works, but I reckon it doesen matter.
8: You can just block of normal oil feed to OMP and get that oil from seperate oil tank

Hopefully this help abit  ;D

There are no stupid questions   Well done Jarno, the Club was founded on this :bravo_2:.

When MRC was formed there was only really the RX7 Club forum in America to turn to and at the time if you asked a question they presumed you should know they would call you stupid! Not Good!

Anyway, Water pump, I have run this electric pump on the race car, plus we sell quite a few of these with no reported issues.

The plate for the RX-8 water pump just removes the pump leaving the water hose connections in place.
All the best Clive

Yeah, I never liked US forums. If you ask something, imidiatelly someone cals you an idiot... And there is no way else to do things, you cant question some methods...

Everyone starts somewhere. We all have much to learn. Thats why its important to share knowledge. And question methods to do stuff.

Guys,

Both hands up if Ive ruffled anyones feathers here....

Im not suggesting people who ask questions are stupid, or certainly don't want to portray an image that this is a forum where you cant ask questions..

... I was merely being self deprecating.

So sincere apologies

Yep deffo got the share the knowledge , there are no stupid questions,, i knew nothing couple of years ago and still got most of it left lol..
Different opinions on solutions to problem is cool what ever works....Both Clive and me suffered on track oil surge at the start of our projects and between us came up with various solutions good and bad nothing on the internet...so dont worry about asking Qs.

Absolutely no need to apologise Jamie - there are no stupid questions on here. We don't ridicule anyone for asking any question - unless it's Clive, because he knows it all, so shouldn't need to ask  ;) :))

Banter, but not ridicule  :13:

I purchased TWO (I must be mad!) 36 year old Mazda Rotaries, both potentially heading off to be scrapped, because I knew if I ran into trouble getting them back on the road, there would be help available on friendly forums like this. I'm certainly no technical expert, but love to learn, and help others where I can.

I never use the US forums as I've seen the ridicule on there  :(
