Excellent job, I particularly like the fact that you have keep the Elan type styling rather making slab sided box arches.

Cheers Clive !  :13:

I still want to keep the styling cues from the original elan, rather than it looking like its crashed into a pile of MAX POWER magazines.

When its all finished, Im taking it to my local Lotus dealer, Paul Matty Sprotcars, complaining that my elan is making a rather strange BRAP BRAP BRAP sound.

...........See how long it takes him to chase me off the forecourt lol

Just spotted the suspension query. Even I was puzzled by this one because normally you would measure toe on the outside edge because if you measure toe from the inside edge, toe on the outside edge will become less  accentuated  .

Rear Toe will always need to have toe in as toe out is really dangerous on the rear, I remember reading about a jag that was sent out at Le Manns and was so unstable it resulted in a horrendous accident on the Mulsanne straight due to its instability due to setting toe out on the rear.

Jamie, what suspension set up are you running.

Maybe worth knowing that if your on stock Lotus arms at the front, that Lotus and many other F1 cars of the era of your car, used the main starting point settings taken from of all things-----------a Triumph Herald !

Maybe worth knowing that I always run the front parallel because when you plot out Akerman angle on any car, this makes the inside wheel as you enter a corner turn out a little more and this aids turn in "feel"

Hope this helps, even only a little. ;)

Here's my last RX-8 setup, which I've not changed, as I find it works well for me. Very similar to Clive's!

Cheers guys,

Looking at this it looks like

Front
6 degrees of castor
1.4 degree of negative camber
Toe virtually straight ahead with a slight amount of toe in.

Rear
2 degree of negative camber
Toe virtually straight ahead with a slight amount of toe out.

I can see why toe out on the rear is "not preferred" as your outside wheel is going to be trying to whip you round, esp if it toes out further during suspension compression with weight transfer.

But the diagram suggests toe in on front, tow out on the rear.

........... and I was never going to use the Triumph Herald suspension lol.

I think by the time ive finished, only the rook panel with be the original lotus part un modified.

There is a car out there for everyone I guess !!

I like the SuperTrapp style mufflers, not very good at shooting flames out though.

Cant knock him for the ambitious wing styling....erm. Ive not finished mine yet, they could look gash !

Well I wouldnt choose SuperTrap for a rotary. Two reason:
Flames and exhaust temperature will melt them.
And cause rotary is basically two stroke, they will be too restricting and may cause too much exhaust back pressure...

I wouldn't disagree with you Jarno.......

They look different, even if they are completely impractical and Im all for doing things differently.  :great:
