Was hoping to get to see you race on Sunday Clive, but my son and fiance have just called to say they are coming over to stay for the weekend so I won't be able to make it on Sunday as I'd hoped.

Good luck for the weekend - that's some serious competition, and your slicks won't help if it's raining  :(

Shame not to see you there,
p.s. I have proper BTCC Wets as well so not worried about the rain  ;).

Clive, looking at weather, worth putting another coat of rain x on inside of windscreen.

Even allowing for the x2 rotary equivalency, are you in class A2 as opposed to C (All cars 2-wheel drive 2000-2900cc) so as to avoid any risk of upsetting the Blue Oval runners?  Maybe you should remind them that in your day it used to be a Blue Circle.

Well as you will see when the video goes up, that yes I still managed to upset some of the Blue Oval runners ;)

Andrew, now everyone knows where the car colours came from  ;) ;)

Well the weekend despite all the work getting and changing tyres etc was a bit of a letdown, primarily due to the weather.

Those who have been to some of the December trackdays with us know that Brands can be the equivalent of being in the Antarctic for cold and chill factor and that's what we had on Saturday.
The slicks I was so looking forward to running turned out to disaster, offering me zero grip and spent qually just moving out the way.

Took the decision to leave the track and get my Toyo R88R tyres which I knew would not help me against the softer slicked cars but would at least stop me crashing!

Starting a lowly 19th on the grid, just on the warm up lap before the rolling start I had more grip than all of the qualifying session.
I suspected the first corner would be a bit iffy and decided to let them sort themselves out before tying to pick em off.

Sure enough what you will see in the video was nothing less than appalling, deliberately running a car off track should have led to a licence suspension. Back in Parc fermé  if you watch the footage you can imagine the argument that took place with people being led away  ::),

Any way with that stupidity out the way I got my head down and started to pick a few off and boy did they dislike being overtaken ;) but would up finishing tenth, so I did get a few of them.

Gearing works better but felt the car was down on power top end which would show why on Sunday.

Car must be quicker than it was because despite the super cold weather I was only a couple of tenths off my best time at Brands in good weather earlier in the year circulating in 54 second laps.

Come Sunday nobody had a clue what tyres to run and I should have stayed on full wets like may others and just four laps in the intercooler pipe came of the throttle body which leads me to suspect that I was bleeding off boost and power on Saturday as well.

That's it now for the season with just a play time left of the 7th of December Track Day

I only realised afterwards / this was my boost checking Video you did for me, whoops , not the first corner and not the one for the racer proper as I presume there's a zoomed out version.

Not a bad result on Saturday Clive, given the opposition and conditions  :13:

I bet you were very relieved not to be a victim of that Paddock Hill incident

I can't get the 2nd video link to work for some reason?

Second video wasn't to be made public that's why it doesn't work.

Watched it..looks so much better in the corner..what the hells under the bonnet of the Fiesta XR2...
If its bleeding boost at top end defo gonna need a map tweak now youve tighten it up...
Ive got a Gizmo r boost controller thats  mapable per 500 rpm happy to donate to cause...i dont use it. It will work perfect with your 3 port solenoid.

Wow, just watched this through my TV, what an excellent job Philip has made and so much patience as I know this takes him hours to compile, with in-car his own outside footage and then the commentary over the top as well  :13:

Philip is also my "Telemetry" and he has played with the footage so he could see my gauges. I did say to him this morning that the car really did not have any grunt and he managed to zoom the boost gauge to find I was hitting 15lbs of boost then it immediately bled to 10lbs of boost.

So the reality of this would be the car only dragging itself along at say 300 bhp and this explains why I had to work hard to put some of the cars away I overtook!.

The really encouraging thing is that in super cold weather with a very down on power car compared to when I won at Brands in nice weather, is that I was still lapping in the same 54 second bracket :)

This means that once we can hold the boost putting all its power out and holding it plus all the development, especially the aero work it means the car should be faster next season

Here's a picture from the weekend,

Thanks John, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's a bit of a fiddle editing 3 or more time-codes and you need a powerful PC too.
