Can someone help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this is probably in the wrong section, but don\'t know where to post this...........
Had a accident last week, was waiting for insurance company to give me a price........
Just now got a call from them, and was told that it doesn\'t look good, they might well refuse paying out.
Reason, I didn\'t declared the induction kit and dump valve.  They were sort of ok with the induction kit, but seem be have problem with the dump valve, and told me that most of the insurance company wouldn\'t touch a car with a dump valve in there ????????
Why?????????????
Im so stressed and scared right now.............

sounds to me that they are going to wriggle, and talk any crap they can to do it, now you have left yourself wide open to them. Induction kit is a bhp gain so cant see why they are not bothered by that when there is no bhp gain from a dump valve. Sounds look crap talking to get out of paying.

I don\'t know Gllary........
Really stressed out now.....

your car came with a pressure relief valve as standard, all you have done is fit a replacement one as yours was defective. ;)

They said it\'s a modification none the less.............

but it does exactly the same thing as the standard one, by that thinking a pattern exhaust is a modification

Agree with that and disagree at the same time.

Any set of wheels would do the same thing for example but most people would tend to agree you should declare them.

a set of wheels will make a car more desirable to a thief though ?

I\'m not sure, probably best to double check at the time of taking out insurance that you have everything covered. I had to fill out 2 pages of forms and give 6 photos to get the rx\'s mods covered.

And a Dump Valve will attract attention also, and im sure some of the companies also have stats on how much more likely someone with one is to claim and all sorts.

I used to deal with credit card applications.  The amount of info that was taken into account was amazing, even stuff that seemed totally irrelevant and sometimes silly but they do a lot of analysis on it.

Anyway, looks as though there is some good advice now in the other thread.

I wonder if a new set of tyres is a modification ? :rollin

Yes even tyres can be classed as a modification if using a different make/model/size than what was originally supplied with the car when new.

Stupid or what!!!

They can only withhold payment if the modifications caused the accident (beyond all reasonable doubt). Not declaring these modifications would mean if the vehicle was stolen they would not pay for these parts but would still have to pay the rest.
If however you thought these parts where original and not after market then again you are OK. The insurance companys case will never hold up in these circumstances.
