Now for my horror movie that my friend Philip took a couple of hours to construct. (shame I did't tape qualifying)

You know I looked at this and know that presented with the same gap again I would still have gone for it just the same, with most they would have given room or not moved going in a straight line. Still cant work out if this was a blocking move or simply a no mirrors move.

Had I not driven off track in avoidance he would have run into me, potentially taken both of us into the barriers

As I said to someone today, so many people have helped me get this far, it wouldn't be fair if I just went out there wallying around and not trying to win !.

Here we go/  https://youtu.be/IkFfnUdSsqM

Blimey....like demolition derby....them mr2 boys take no prisoners do they?
With ground effects any off track excursion its liable to happen again? Or just  a bad place that you went off?

Is there any suspension adjustments you can do so you can launch betterer? Make it a little softer on dampeners so it "squats"?

I'm just spit balling as I have no idea about this stuff

To answer some of the above/

The promoter sent an e-mail to all the Nippon drivers warning us all that racing the MR2's was dodgy as they race each other oblivious to anyone around them which was why so many stayed away, had you seen qualifying you would have seen that most posed no issues to get by them.

The start! I worked out on the warm up lap that the Subaru with 4wd and the MR2's with the weight over the wheels would get off the line much better than my RWD, I even angled the car slightly to allow room up my inside so as not to get rammed.

So no , changes would not help as the problem it just literally as described above.

Jon, no changes required as its  just bad luck that the piece of grass isn't flat, in almost every instace  on any other track I would have been OK to run onto the grass with no damage

If the promoter knows they are oblivious then shouldn't they have a staggered grid? Put them further down the grid together?

Donnington is next Jon, fortunately a lot of weeks away. Still want to get the car out to Rotarystock before that though.

At the drivers briefing it was said that the MR2's would have a 6 second delay to let the faster cars go first !

They did this at Castle Coombe successfully last year, no ideas why this did not happen after all !!

I bet they would have had someone's ants down if there had been a big coming together had you not decided to go and cut the grass! Especially if they were supposed to be delayed by 6 seconds

re japi

Those guys are nuts! Damn, really sorry for you, lots of damage... :(
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

I found that my splitter would 'ground' if I straddled the apex of most corners on track. It would be okay with only one wheel on the apex and the other on track.
You look to be running a lower height setting than my FD and I remember it took me a lot of adjustment to get the height just right to ensure clearance and decent ground effects.
I'll look through my pictures to see if I recorded the optimum running height for the splitter.

I used lighter aluminium for the splitter, 1.5mm I think (still have a full sheet). I used thinner aluminium 1mm or thinner (cannot remember) for the splitter supports/canards. This meant the splitter could bend without ripping the front nose off the car.
I built the diffuser from the same thinner aluminium and used 1.5mm for the supports due to the pressure exerted by the ground effects.

Hope this helps.
