Hi, as the titile, just wanna get some opinions if the engine is useable(only rebuilt 1.5k ago).   :(     Also, what\'s that belt??  It must have snapped in the accident.
Might want to buy the salvage back if it\'s a good price.  Any ideas how much I should pay for it??  How much to have a engine transplant??

Cheers

Engine would be okay as would most of the gubbins in the engine bay judging by the pictures.

Looks like the power steering belt. But need some of the bits removed to get a better idea.

J.j. , that\'s not what caused the crash is it? Sudden loss of steering??

Excellent thought Pete, that looks like steering and air con pump,  belt to me, its missing off the tension pulley, Now that Pete has pionted that out im gonna check mine now!

I agree with Iain, i think the engine would be ok looking at that,, though i would have a look underneath to see if the engine mounts have been shifted on thier frame, if thats damaged that might change things,

How do I check that??
Take a pic from under the car??  Don\'t think I\'ll be able to remove the underseal by myself there without any jacks and tools........
:(
Sudden loss of steering........
Not sure, the whole thing happened so quickly.   The tail just kicked out without warning, And I tried, really really tried to save it.  I didn\'t lift off the throttle, but eased off. opposite lock......  didn\'t seemed to have made any difference........

a power steering belt will not cause loss of steering, at any speed but crawling along the assistance from the hydraulics would be minimal.

as above really, without stripping it down and looking at the engine mountings etc. for damage (the engine in my rally car had to be scrapped due to previous accident damge to an engine mounting.)  I presume it wasn\'t run at all after the accident ? so no damage from overheating or debris getting into the engine.
