well another twist....bell bolts came out ok after pentrating oil done its job. But new disc do not fit old bells! doh. holes line up perfect but bell id about a 1mm bigger than needed. new bells will take at least a week to machine and a fair few quid. trip to the lathe required.

Send the discs back and get the correct ones??

Its literally 0.5mm prob tolerance plus a bit of corrosion thrown in. Easy and quicker to give the bells a lick on the lathe. Holes line up perfect.

well i got all confused with this floating or bolted bell brake set up....so had a read up on AP website site...im convinced i have a bolted set up and will assemble as found with 10nm torque. have new bolts and discs and i am reusing the old bells...but i think i will order some new 1s after shes got Fingers x an mot. due to the disc and furry bell corrosion concerned about discs runout so changed the lot...the consequences dont bear thinking about.

Are you sure the bell wont fit the disc?

Everything is designed to be a tight fit on these as its obviously quite an important area to make sure its COMPLETELY Centred.  If you skim off the bell there is a possiblity that the disc will not be centrally located on the bell, which is something you do NOT Want.  You may find it all locates properly once tightened up?

The bolts are also designed to be non removable for obvious reasons and thus are an absolute pig to remove!

I changed the discs a while ago and remember it being an absolute bstard of a job

also try sticking the bell in the freezer overnight and the disc in the oven at 100 degrees for 30 minutes and then see if it fits.  Dont forget heat and expansion, alloy expands at a different rate to steel.  If you definitely have the right parts they are designed the way they are for a reason.  I would really be VERY concerned about skimming anything off.  You may find it waggles around like a flag in the wind once its up to racing temp, which again you dont want when the bolts are only tightened loosely.

Well thats means there fubar then...i skimmed about 0.5mm off. The new disc id was about 0.5 smaller than old ...i assumed wrong that the bolts did the centre ing . Opps .
