Rebuild Question

Hi all

I've started looking for a FD3 7 or 8 series and am interested in views on the approximate mileage where a rebuild becomes necessary. Once rebuilt, is it a regular thing at around the same mileage, or will a rebuild tend to be done to a higher standard with more resilient parts, therefore putting off subsequent rebuilds for a longer period?

Most seem to need rebuilds due to water seal failure with no set mileage figure really, although 80K seems to be a problem mileage area.

I say no set mileage because I knew of one car in the states documented at 225K and still going strong
