Well  V hav good news and V have bad news!. (Allo Alo, you have to be a bit old to get that one)

After a most bizarre Brands track day yesterday I will be booking Castle Coombe for next Saturday, bad news is, as I was putting the car on the trailer the turbo made a funny noise spooling down so this morning it was stripped off and away to get some new bearings installed  :(

As for the track day that I was just using for a quick check over I had the most people ever to throw themselves at the scenery than I have seen for many a year, all at Paddock hill  ???.

First and third were harmless spins, second one was a decision to either turn the car to avoid and risk the car going sideways and slapping the car in the side or going straight out across the gravel trap (which worked ok )

Then the forth was a full on spin then rolling on the roof flattening exercise, all in the same place and in front of me, blimey I have heard of scaring them out of the way but that was ridiculous  !

p.s. good to meet  ( Lucky 7 from here) using his FD as intended  :)

Wow, I'm glad you and the car escaped unscathed from those incidents without harm.

Blimey, this was a trackday evening, what's it going to be like when you are racing???

Well I never, by a strange coincidence, Gwyn and I will be in the area that day  ;), so we'll certainly pop over to the track at some point. I'll try and persuade Gwyn to leave the hotel in time to see qualifying, but if not we'll at least get there for the first or second race.

For anyone who might want to drop by, here is the schedule for the day;

Thanks for all the info etc guys,

I know we are one of their distributors but the guys at AET have been stars, in spite of being super busy, the Turbo got to them this morning and it went back out the door to get back with me tomorrow  :) and it only cost £600 to mend  :'(

Turns out it was one of the earlier engine failures with side seal problems that finally showed  up,

Turbos make good washing machines for air, but they do get a bit upset when you chuck engine bits through them  :-[

Well I never Malcolm, fancy being in the same are at the same time of the race meeting  ;)

Has those coils helped?

Hi Grant, turns out changing coils made very little difference but it was worth a try

re japi

Was that turbo new when you got it?

Good luck! As allways, we are expecting vids ;)
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Clive, if you can bring the little dashcam with you, and ensure it is charged (just plug it into a computer USB port, or USB charger for a few hours) and has a memory card in it, I'll make sure we get some video to share  :)

Don't worry, there's a "format" option in the camera, so the card can be wiped in 10 secs. Just make sure you've saved everything you want to keep first  :)

To format, switch camera on, if camera starts to record (red dot, top right) press "OK" to stop (red dot goes) . Then press "UP" arrow for a second or two, until the "setup" menu appears. Press "UP" arrow (should be twice) to select "Format", Click "OK", then "UP" arrow to select "YES", click "OK" again. You'll see a spinning wheel on the screen for a second or two as the card is wiped. When wheel disappears, click and hold "UP" arrow for a second to go back tot he video preview screen. Job done!

If you have any trouble, I can do this when I arrive  :)

Well "Christine" strikes again, damn thing really does not want to race!. (can someone photo shop the picture below with some yellow and blue on it  grrrrrrrrrrrrr)

By the time I got the bill for the Turbo it has risen to £700 and despite poring oil into it before it was installed and correctly priming it, it has a noise I am not happy with, if they say its OK, then its OK, but I need them to check it out!  .

Been at a Hot Rod / Custom show at Ipswich today to get away from  "Christine"for a day ,  but tomorrow I will strip it back off and get it back for a check-over again on a special delivery in the hope it comes back, Thursday or Friday (need to leave for the track Friday)
