Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

They have so called bad version motors I believe. I have heard that they cant handle boost and wont make much power, bad ports. Cant say for sure how much power they can handle as stock, but I would say max 250...

It's oil cooled only.

Mine popped at about 250hp.

Might want to see what Ade (TiddlesRX7) is running as I know he's done a lot of mods (IC, Apexi ECU, Exhaust, Intake, etc) and still runs the stock turbo.

I believe that the earlier S4 turbos could not handle the same power as the later S5 ones. My S5 one is running circa 300bhp probably a touch under as we couldn't get enough fuel through the standard injectors when mapping it. I believe they are good upto around 320 BHP but that is maxed out. And as already mentioned, they are oil cooled.

I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Turbo is oil cooled, max HP you can run for any period of time is about 270-80 on the standard parts - but obviously wear is increased.

250-60 is a sensible upper limit on stock parts, transforms the car and doesn't tend to burst anything more than the clutch.
