I got a polishing kit for my bench grinder so i could polish my HKS hard pipes up before fitting them and when the polishing kit turned up it\'s got a bar of polishing soap with it (looks like a BIG lump of chocolate !!!:D )

Has anyone ever come across these before? and if so what do you do with it

Cheers

Paul-Tll

I apply the soap to the wheel and work in, then offer my
\'Parts\' (as it were) to the wheel.
The benefit to this over using ordinary polish is that it wont
\'fling\' off . But of course youll have your gloves and goggles on.

Ah i see, don\'t want to sound too thick (but i know i will!) but it\'s a solid bar so do i need to wet it to get it soft enough to apply it to the polishing mop?

Cheers Bud

shouldnt have to the friction of the wheel will cause it to come off block cos its softer & stick to wheel, well thats what happens on any linishers I\'ve used

I see now, so i just hold the bar against the wheels for a little while then start to polish the alloy parts

Cool Cheers lads :D

Always taught not to wear gloves, watchs, rings near to spinning wheels, good chance of the wheel grabbing and removing your arm !

Don\'t bend under wheel if it grabs it out of your hands, unless you want to be scalped !

Enjoy, can be very satisfying.

when i was polishing my parts i had that block(that looks like a brick) i thought it was rubbish, it s just like a cutting compound really didnt really work form me, i ended up using a mixture of peek/autosol metal polish.

12.7 on stock twins @ 1 bar (i reckon i can do better!)

There are all sorts of chocalate (soap) for different levels of finish.
They go by colour and texture for different metals.
Saying all this though I have found Peek the best for finishing
it is far less abraissive than Autosolve.

Sadgoth really hope things get beter for you.

Whats wrong with a bit of elbow grease?
No need for gloves or googles, sounds much safer to me;)
Did a good job on my old one, and I\'ll be doing my new one too first chance I get:cool
