Hi Everyone,

Just joined as a full family member so best introduce myself. Having owned a RX8 R3 I was a member of the RX8OC. Funny how a rotary engine can take hold of you. I thought that the 8 would be enough to satisfy me, but alas I took my family to Rotastock back in 2013 were we spent the day chatting with a few of you guys and admiring the variety of cars on show. My R3 was one of the newest cars on the stand, so I left envious of the older vehicles.

Anyway on June 30th last year I took ownership of a RX7 FC TII Vert (H1RXY). A lot of you will recognise it and no doubt tell me it is mint. As it turned out, it wasn’t and I spent a lot of money and a stressful time sitting in the waiting room at Group B motorsport awaiting my fate.  Don’t want to go into to anymore details just yet, let me save that story for another day. So the upshot after 11 months is I am now loving my car. I recently had to chose between the FC and the 8, strangely I chose the FC. Even though the 8 had only done 15K there was Something special about the 24 year old machine and it won hands down.

So What next? Well it’s going in for another service and MOT on Thursday with Dwayne at Silver Fern Performance on Deeside. (Dwayne has just started out on his own this last year. Really helpful and talented guy who knows his rotaries). But in addition I have caught the modding bug. So Dwayne is installing my new BC coilovers. Really looking forward to that.

Will let you know how it turns out.

Anyway that enough for now. Hope to see you at an event shortly

Hi Chris and welcome to MRC as a full club member,

As you would probably know this was Lisa's car before she found it difficult to drive for health reasons, no idea what happened with the car after we sold it other than hearing it saw the race track!, but it really was a gorgeous "then" as you will see in the picture below.

Because I had known this car for so long through its two previous owners we actually bought the car without even going to look at it and thoroughly enjoyed its ownership, so its sad to see this post "however" I am really pleased that by the sound of it, it is now back to how it should be and you are now enjoying this special car.

All the best Clive

Hi Clive,

Thanks for the welcome and the Photo. The track makes sense. As the issues were all mechanical really. The car is still a looker and on the way back mechanically. It was mentioned in a JDM Meet review which I supported last November

Hi Chris, and a very warm welcome to the MRC  :)

Nice to see I'm not the only one who has taken a liking to the older RX models; after owning my RX-8 for 11 years now, I bought a 1st Gen RX-7 (1983 reg) in 2011 and last month bought another one  :) I find something special about these 32 year old cars! I spent all yesterday with Ian Mothersole (who you might know from the RX8OC) firing up the 2nd RX-7 (successfully) and then discovering the clutch issue we had wasn't a simple hydraulic issue, but a broken clutch release fork  :( So, we changed our plans for yesterday and dropped the transmission - a fun job on axle stands!

Keep us posted on the FC, I saw that stunning car a few times when Clive and Lisa had it, then I saw it once with the next owner (or his son at least), GregR3 at Snetterton in April 2013. Great to see it's still with an enthusiast and not "lost"  :13:

Hi Chris and welcome, it's great to see this car has made it into the hands of a enthusiast, I am running the BC racing suspension on my fc with good effect on track, but it has to be said that they are very hard on the road, luckily you can buy different spring rates off the shelf. Hope to see you and the car out and about soon

Coilovers have now been fitted. Sitting a little higher than I wanted. But better than losing my exhaust on a speed bump. Been a bit of a delay getting her road worthy, having to install camber adjusters on the rear to dial out excessive negative camber.
