Fellow rotary enthusiasts. My 2007 RX8's headlight washers do not spray any water onto the headlights. They activate when I double pull the wiper handle or every 5 times as specified in the manual. The washers themselves come out under the headlights but no water is sprayed. Water is sprayed from the same reservoir and works perfectly to the windscreen.

Any ideas on this as I can't get my NCT (MOT) certification without it working?

The NCT guys say this is a "mandatory headlamp cleaning device".

Many thanks.

Casey

Hmmm, there is no electrical supply to the headlamp washer actuators so I've always assumed it was water pressure which activated them. As your washers are popping out it suggests you are getting water to them at least, but simply that the jets are blocked?

Thanks Casey. I'll see what I can do to locate the blockage if any. Failing that its a trip to the dealer probably.

Casey

Whereabouts are you located? We might be able to point you to a rotary specialist who won't remove your arms and legs in payment  ;)

Thanks very much Casey (sorry I'm only seeing your latest reply now) but I sorted out the issue myself last night. I looked up on how to remove the front bumper, managed to get it off enough to see a big kink in the highlight washer hose (pic attached). I used a screw clip (also in the pic) to straighten the hose back out, started her up and hey presto the highlight washer works! I'm delighted because I'm sure I've saved myself a few quid on this.

Over the weekend I'll post up the resources I used to assist me so I can help others.

by the way I'm based in Dublin, Ireland so if you know of any rotary specialists here I'd be glad to know about them. :)

Casey

Well done! Pleased to see you got it fixed and it was something simple too. Unusual, not heard of that issue before.I suspect the bumper had been removed previously and the pipe may not have gone back into the correct position on re-fitting.

Re Rotary specialists; the only one I'm aware of is a fair trek over in NI - http://www.rotorworks.co.uk/

Thanks again. It would probably be an hour and a half to get there so at least I now know there is one in Ireland.

Here is the guide I used to get my front bumper off http://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-removing-bumpers-10941/

I didn't take it fully off as my fog lights were still connected but I didn't have to remove it fully to fix my problem.

I also found this very helpful as it gave details on the washer actuators etc. Its a great resource for lots of other info on the RX8

All the best Casey and again thanks for your help.
