Really can't wait to drive it now

Any excuse to post up a track video Grant - this from last Friday at Snetterton....

Opt for 1080p on the "gearwheel" for best quality once running.

Are your wheels black?

My track set of wheels (with Federal 595RSR's) are satin black powder coated OEMs. I have a road set of OEM wheels with "Match Grey" powder coating....

What's the price on those rubbers?? Would you use them on the road?

Grant Monkhouse

Have you lowered the car at all? What about ARBs?

You'll be disappointed if you dyno. Most 231's don't make that power and there is a lot of controversy over the settings used on the various dynos when measuring. I'm no expert on dynos and I've never had mine done.

In summary, most 231's seem to measure about 190-200, but the RX-8 is much more about the handling and carrying speed through corners. Once you get one on the B roads or, even better, on track, you'll see that power isn't everything with these cars  :)

Yeh iv been int phone with Clive for about thirty mins talking about them. Corner speed and braking are waaay better than an FD and will outperform a turbo FD on track easily.

I'm curious as to what power mine will have is all, as if I change the exhaust I want to see if the expense will warranted etc.

200 HP is still very good, considering that the FD with turbos was only 250fwhp then mazda have done something right.

I will be going to AETs hub dyno. All dynos are different but if using the same dyno for the same car then they are going to be fine. It's mainly a tuning tool firstly and a HP/torque bragging tool secondly. I expect to see a nice flat torque curve, a bit like a v8 but no where near as much lb/ft

Mine going to be bridge ported too

As in my sig, my car is running on Tein Monoflex Coilovers (about 20mm drop), tein front strut brace, Racing Beat F/R ARB's. Other mods include short-shifter and Racing Beat RAM air duct and Racing Brake front calipers + Racing Brake disks all round.

When I started to take the car on track, 7 years ago, it was stock and my first outing was to Brands Hatch (Indy Circuit) where I managed to get round in 66s on a June evening with a warm track. Now, with 43 trackdays and the mods, I can lap  Brands in 60.4 seconds on a cold, slightly damp December day. So I think the mods have been worth it  :)
