I have messaged him on eBay. Hopefully he will be willing to knock a bit off the value of the car.

Well gents, I have been studying, thinking, and looking at my low power engine. And talking to few engine builders, including Aston.
I really think that low power engine is under rated and taunted for no good reason. I see lots of potential and room for improvement in that engine.

At this point Im not really sure if Im going to semi pp my engine, because I believe that with porting that engine can do 230-240BHP, and quite easy I believe. Ofcourse Im not sure about that but it would be awesome project to test.

Seems like no one likes to tune and port those engines. Well, for buyer its a good thing, they can be bought quite cheap. (I think)

This was a bit of topic but I hope this helps a little. :)

The porting is one thing that people haven't really bothered with as the ports are quite big, especially the inlet ports, I thought many moons ago why someone hasn't opened the exhaust port and out a semi pp inlet in there too, it would have a huge amount of inlet air and huge amount of exhaust too.

Carl did a full pp renesis motor but kept the side exhaust ports. He said it would be near 300 HP and the side exhaust keeps the noise down as over lap is prety much non existent compared to peripheral exhaust as that is where you get such loud noises from. The overlap and apex seal opening and closing on the port creates a loud "crack" so to speak but the side exhaust port doesn't

gonna get me bridgeported engine dyno'd this year...back to back with my fresh 231 engine same dyno same dyno settings.

I will be Intersting to see. I don't believe they're 231 HP. I would be very surprised if they were

boosted

yes well documented 231 a bit of an exaggeration! would be nice to see the difference in my road car to race car....although the race has no cat open exhaust etc. Wait n see time.

I have been talking with few US, Aussie and Kiwi dudes about those pp exhaust on renesis engine. They said that exhaust pp basically is impossible to do. And its much easier simply to swap FD housing on it. And I understand that...

But I want to see how far I (or people) can go with stock renesis parts.  :97:

I think that intake ports can support huge amount stuff to housings, especially on high power version. But because of shape and desing of exhaust, it cant get out. So if more stuff is provided to housings with semi pp or full pp, problem in exhaust is multiplied. And rotary, like 2 stroke engine, is very picky about exhaust. If it doesent flow, engine will not make power. Only thing I can do at this point is open up exhaust so far that it will brake ;)

My first plan with my project engine was to semi pp it, intake and exhaust. But seems like I have to go back to drawing boards and think my prioritys. One engine, 3 plans... ;)

Stick the light engine in a light car ....bhp per tonne wins.

Stuck boost in the light engine in any car and it will win:)

Been on the look out for a r3 diff for my s1 as well...( no luck yet)who needs 140 plus top end on a road car.

What's the diff ratio? 4.4-1? Look on racing beat website they have loads of option for crown wheel and pinions

boosted

Sweet off there now. S1 4.4 and s2 4.78 .....that mx5 i worked on had a 4.7 in it could tell the difference. Did comtemplate 17" wheels.....

Meh bit expensive actually

However the dollar/£ rate is always good. Clive distributes racing beat stuff too;)

Is the stud pattern the same on renesis engines and FD engines? Also ain't the water seals on a renesis on the housings instead of the plates? So you would have water seal issues?

re japi

Yes, in renesis water seals are in housings. I´m not sure about stud pattern but I believe its different.

Actually, those things confused me too. Water seal thing can be customized but I dont see way to modify stud pattern.
