Thanks for that vid. :)

Seems like that car has very neutral handling. Runs quite "effortless" :)
Alltough rear tires lose grip often, but that could be just those wet conditions :)
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Thanks for the video Malcolm, and Clive for showing how Castle Coombe should be driven.:burnout Never once did I manage to get the apex at Quarry right, always finding I had far more room on the exit to play with but you hit it right each and every time.:Thumbs-up Even without the soundtrack the rate you were able to reel in other cars gives a good enough impression of the speed the car was capable of and made the other RX8\'s look fairly pedestrian,:spank but then I know that was the whole idea:Giggle and not just RX8\'s. The lack of panic in the spin situations shows you have lost nothing of your race driver skills in recovering from such situations, that and the fact that you cleaned the tyres off when you rejoined the track. :god

Many thanks for the above footage and comments. :Thumbsup!

Spent the afternoon fitting a different reconditioned diff fitted with a 4.7 ratio which will be much more suited to the car.

Had you had commentary you would have heard me blipping the throttle half way around Quarry because the gearing was so very wrong everywhere except a for a blat up the straight .

Next up is fitting a duel stage boost controller, this gives me a dry and a wet setting.

On  a different note, a friend of mine sent me a link to the RX-8 crash that Jon (Boosted)  witnessed.

Poor guy must have panicked and lifted off with promptly fishtailed him straight into the barrier, had he planted the throttle chances are he would have just have need new underwear

What a shame. How many times has similar happened and nearly always as a result of either lifting off, or braking, in an attempt to resolve an error better dealt with by powering through it.

All seems to be coming together now Clive, pleased for you. :Thumbsup!

Just looked at the video of the silver RX-8 and noted at 2-3 seconds that something odd seems to happen at the rear offside wheel? Puncture, oil, hit something on the track??

Ya, that is true

Just looked that vid few times:
I think that he drifted little bit to wet side of track so left and right tyres had different traction. And when he lifted throttle, car was gone...

Kodiak

Was good to see an engine in the car this year!

Went with a friend this time around and took great pleasure in predicting your progress during the second session:

"He\'s going to gain two places this lap"
"Really? We\'ll see..."

*gains two places*

"Next lap he\'ll be past the FC"
"Hmmm... Ok..."

*next lap ahead of the FC by 4 lengths"

Feeling pretty smug.
"How did you know he\'d do that?"

...

"He\'s good"

I said to my mate it looked like you had a diff problem, kept pulling to the right out of Quarry. Didn\'t get to ask you about it though due to the weather.

Keep up the good work Clive :)

Hi All,

Just to let you know that I have just booked my first race at Donnington for Sunday June 8th

(NOT Saturday the 7th, the 7th was a misprint  :Hammer)

When I get my confirmation back it will tell me the time for qualifying and the times for both races.

p.s. not expecting to set the world alight as I need some miles under me to set the thing up plus I will need a guide dog to help me around Donnington as I have never even track dayed there, let alone raced there :eek:.
All the best Clive
