Working installing all the ecu bits and pieces on my engine, but I need to find TDC.

The marks on my pulley are huge blotches (a green and white one!) so they are not much help, nor do they look right. (in relation to what I see going on in through the spark plug holes)

Don\'t want to open the front cover to look at the E-Shaft if I can help it (get it from the position of the key in the shaft)

So that leaves me with the following that I have tried.

1) AST TDC finder that is supposed to show you the point when compression is at its highest (or just drops) that is giving me slightly non repeatable readings, however they are coming in close to method (2)

2) I located the edge of the bottom of the rotor bowl in the center of L1 and the edge of the top of the rotor bowl in T1, marked both these positions and split the difference.  Can someone tell me if im loosing my mind of if this the TDC - e.g the middle of the two points should be the center of the rotor at the center between T1 and L1 (Same would work for locating seals in the holes?)

3) A different pulley with clear and correct marks on it would be great.

Oh, and its a 20b so dont know if the pulley would be the same or not.

Thanks,
James

Method Posted Here:

http://rx7.pw.cx/guides_manuals/collected/2nd%20gen%20ignition/demystifying.html

Here is the procedure I used:
Remove both rear rotor spark plugs.
Rotate the crank until you can see an apex seal (tip of the rotor) in the trailing spark hole. The trailing plug hole is restricted, making the seal somewhat difficult to see. Use a flexible light and a mirror. When the seal is seen, mark the crank.
Rotate the crank until you see the same apex seal in the leading spark plug hole. This plug hole is not restricted, which makes it easy to see the seal. Mark the crank.
Halfway between your two marks is TDC for the front rotor (#1) rotor.

This works on 13b because the the halfway mark is the rear rotor seal directly between the spark plugs which puts the face of the front rotor 180 degrees apart and at TDC

20b is firing 120 degrees apart - so does this mean with the the method here there second rotor is 60 degrees away from TDC (its 120 degrees further on than the rear rotor, so 60 degrees left to TDC)

And the front rotor would be another 120 degrees ?

Thanks,
