Hi Jon and all,

Really really sad to say tonight we have cancelled Castle Coombe with the race organiser.

We put around 200 miles on the car over the weekend and Jaydee has had two full days chasing rainbows trying to map a car that keeps moving the goal posts on him, a lost injector drive really did not help along the way :3Confused

On top of that we ran out of fuel on the A12 with over 1/4 of a tank of fuel showing  (that was real fun with no hard shoulder) fortunately Kerim came out with fuel and we had no Police around, although the car was on trade plates, I really did not need the grief of them pulling the car out of danger.

Jaydee must have credit for not getting stressed or upset at all the hours he has put in and I am convinced that with the AFR readings we saw anyone else would have lost the engine.

It is really important that I stress that is would appear nobody has even got this far before with the configuration of ECU\'S we are running in an RX-8 with an FD engine, let alone be into final mapping stages.

Such is the dedication of Jaydee to succeed even though he has spent something like 15/16 hours on this over the weekend , tomorrow he is going to spend hours building a whole new different style of map using all the information gained already.

On a plus side all the other wiring work to wire the fuel pumps, water pump, suspension, transponder and the charging system away from the RX-8 loom in a friend of mines workshop has been successful with the battery keeping full charge at all times.

Looks like I may have to hire an MX-5 to get out there and race for now so I don\'t have to go through all that licensing stuff again which I will have to if I can\'t get the RX-8 up n running this year

Really sorry guys that this could not happen and not sure it will even be at Japfest, but I can tell you that with all the hours that have gone into the car by many people and myself it sure wasn\'t for the want of trying.
All the best Clive

HO no feel for you buddy keep going it will come right for you things happen for a reason. and at least you did not lose the engine.

Wow, bad luck... :/ Jaydee is really working hard with that. But I´m with E-Viking, most important is that engine wont get destroyed

What a crying shame that a project that has progressed beyond expectations should be delayed at the final hurdle. Really feel for you Clive (and Jay), so close and it will come good I am sure. I know that feeling of not making the grid after all the expectancy and after all the preparation but I am sure there are plenty more races to come.
Sadly no longer with us, RIP Ray, 9 Feb 2021

Thanks guys, just had Steve Vince the series organiser on the phone who was chocked as he too was looking forward to seeing this car perform.

Really written this year off now with now two out of five missed, not sure we will even have it at Japfest now , the biggest jap event of the year.
All the best Clive

A day on and even more excellent dedicated work by Powergains  ------------ a rogue wire has been found that was interfering with the injectors , screwing up the AFR readings and we now have a fully operational car that maps up correctly :Thumbsup!:Thumbsup!:Thumbsup! To Jaydee and Kerim

All this means we should be romping around the track at Japfest finding out what I have really got under me :3gears-lh

Great news and sad news Clive. One reason why I have no deadline to finish my car is to avoid disappointment that it\'s not ready:( you will get there Clive and come next season you will have a well tuned car with some seat time in it outside of a competitive series:D

Glad you\'ve identified the problem and fixed it, but really sorry to hear you missed getting on the grid for the first race. I really hope you can have a couple of good shake down runs at Castle Combe on Saturday. See you on Friday night :Thumbs-up

Fantastic news Clive. Kerim and Jaydee at Powergains are to be applauded for sticking with it to find a solution.

Looking forward (\'cos you won\'t be behind me for long) to seeing the car at Castle Combe (Japfest).
